I realize these pictures are probably the first to be released and they were probably shot with zero budget, but they look horrible. The darkness of the clothes and the lighting of the set in no way reflects Dreamgirls or the sunny, brightness of 1960s girl groups.
Couldn't they at least give the women decent poses?
The first shot looks like Effie has a stomach ache and Deena and Lorrell have just left the national touring company of The Life.
The second picture looks like an ad for The Price is Right.
The third picture, Deena looks like she's trying to cover a tattoo or she's trying to imitate a Madonna pose.
There is nothing "dreamy" about these pictures. I hope this isn't foreshadowing how bad the production will be.

This is why Joan Marcus should not be the go-to photographer.
I was also wondering why they have pictures of the original cast in the photo section of the website.

Who's idea was it to just take the screencap of those pictures, blow them up, and post them on BWW in a terrible quality?
These photos certainly don't look professional, I've seen community theatre photos that look better than this. Hopefully, the production will be good.

Joan Marcus is the goddamn Microsoft of theatrical photography.

I don't think I've ever seen a Broadway-Related photograph that DIDN'T have her name on it, but whatever...she takes good pictures (for the most part).

Joan's not a GUY, buddy...
EDIT: Forgot one crucial word. See, I was correcting Jazz...?

Oh my god. I'm so embarrassed right now! I think someone smashed my head with a frying pan last night and it's causing me to post a lot of strange things...
"Joan's a GUY, buddy..."
I have been seeing his Broadway photography for years now, and I always assumed Joan Marcus was a woman.
Ooooooooops.
...Joan Marcus is definitely a woman.

No no!!!! I had posted all "he's" and PiraguaGuy2 made that response. What he meant to say was, "Joan's a Guy? Buddy...?!?!".

I mean to say "is not a woman". You can tell I made a typo and am not actually retarded because otherwise I wouldn't have been correcting Jazz.
Okay. Thought there was something odd. I didn't see that Jazzy corrected the post originally, and then you forgot the word "not." So, yeah...oops again.

It didn't occur to me that you had forgotten the word 'not'. 2nd oops on this thread. Boy am I a mess today. Back to the topic...it looks like someone used the webcam on their laptop to take these pictures. They're so blurry.

Someone give Lorell a sandwich.
Check out Tristram Kenton's work from the West End for inspired theatre photography.
My iPhone takes better photos than those 'press' photos of the ladies.
stop bitching. they look fine.
Are we sure these aren't the press pictures for the new Ex-Destiny's Child Tour "(Can You Pay Our) Bills, Bills, Bills?"

Martha Swope would have made this look like "Dreamgirls" rather than "Threepenny Opera".
This is not Joan's work. This is Joan's work stretched and misshapen by bad web designers, then screencapped and blown up by Broadway World so they look ****ty and pixelated.
"stop bitching. they look fine."
God forbid anyone have an opinion.
I think the pictures look odd as well. Definitely not a good representation of Joan Marcus's work.
