Now that some people are getting their official copies of the Compact Disc, is it safe for me to start talking about the CD?
Or is that bad form when the CD's are fresh out of the box. I'm new here and all that.

Posted: 6/6/06 at 3:18pmSh-k-Boom/Ghostlight is "rush-releasing" the CD and it s available at Footlight as of today. Obviously they are counting on the Tony awards publicity.
Cast albums are NOT "soundtracks."
Live theatre does not use a "soundtrack." If it did, it wouldn't be live theatre!
I host a weekly one-hour radio program featuring cast album selections as well as songs by cabaret, jazz and theatre artists. The program, FRONT ROW CENTRE is heard Sundays 9 to 10 am and also Saturdays from 8 to 9 am (eastern times) on www.proudfm.com

Not every CD is put on iTunes, especially immediately.
Obviously this CD has been rushed out- I'd expect it to be on iTunes around the original release date of 6/27.

Eeeeee! I am sooo excited! I just got back from Tower Records (Thank you WithoutATrace! You made my week! No-my next three weeks since that's how long I would have had to wait) I listened to it on the train and I love it! I would have been happier if it had more of the man-in-chair stuff like in the show, but this'll do just fine! The people on the train probably thought I was a nut job I was grinning so much on the way home! My favorite track is probably Bride's Lament since it is most like the version in the show. Not that the other songs are all that different from the show...the other songs just have less of the man in chair commentary that happens in the middle of songs. They kept all of the man-in-chair commentary and sing-along stuff in Bride's Lament. It makes me grin!
Anyway I'm going to listen again now. Oh! And I bought The Wedding Singer too but I probably will be too busy listening to The Drowsy Chaperone to get a chance to play The Wedding Singer for a while!

Okay... so I'm guesing that it's okay to start talking about the CD since everyone is in the mode to get it, or has gotten it... BUT I won't discuss if the final note is sung or not... nor will I discuss if the record actually skips or not...
Anyway, anyone notice in the FANCY DRESS song, that every charachter that is introduced ends their introduction with a word that ends in "OT"? The sound, really... not the spelling...
"Whome I love alot" - Robert
"Best Man Ought" - George
"Not worht Squat" - Felzig
"If I get my Shot" - Kitty
"It's what we Got" - Tall Bros.
"I kiss Alot" - Rudolpho
"To Tie the Knot" - Janet
"And all that Rot" - Chaperone
"Tie the knot" - Trix
What funny writing, eh? Clever!

If anyone is interested Michael Rupert is giving away a copy on his MySpace page. I got mine today at Tower and I haven't been able to stop listening to it. Also, love the pictures inside!
Does anyone know when the limited edition vinyl is coming out?

I think it's best to see the show before hearing the soundtrack because a lot of the joy in the show is in the joy discovery. Does that make sense? The jokes are funnier and more shocking the first time you see them. It's an experience. You won't get that feeling from the CD. The CD is good but it's really only an appetizer. You'll enjoy the show and the CD more if you see the show first.
I got the CD from the Lincoln Center Tower Records and it doesn't look like they're going to run out of them anytime soon. I also called the Tower Records in the Village and they said they had a few in stock. I think you'll only be able to get this CD in the city, not at Tower stores elsewhere.
