Hey!! just got back from seeing the matinee of Drowsy today...

Sutton, Beth and Bob Martin were all out this afternoon... I think Beth was back in for the evening..I know Sutton was out both shows today... Not sure about Bob..

So Jay Douglas was Man in Chair... It was his first time going on and he was AWESOME... He got all the laughs and did a very good job... he was very funny... a few stumbles on like 1 or 2 lines... but thats understandable... he did a very great job and will continue to get better and better!!!

Stacia Fernandez was on as The Drowsy Chaperone!! She was VERY GOOD.. she was pretty funny and had a great voice... Different from Beth a little... but still very good..

Andrea Chamberlain was Janet Van De Graaff... Now she was good but no where near as good as Sutton Foster.. I thought she had an ok voice.. its very chesty (like belty) but she was very pretty and it took a while for me to warm up to her.... I still think she did a good job... but wasnt my favorite.. But i have to give her credit because it has to be stressful having to meet the expectations set by Sutton.

everyone else in the show was AMAZING as usual... Danny Burstein was GREAT!! as was the entire cast.. .it was very interesting to see the three understudies...

I admire your positive attitude - many people would be distraught about the understudies before they even go onstage, then come back here and talk about how "horrible" they were. Glad u had a good time.

Well, if it were my first time seeing the show then I would be dissapointed. Luckily, this was your second time.

I saw Drowsy at yesterday's matinee----(my 2nd time)---Man in Chair u/s Jay Douglas was in. I know he has been getting very good reviews, but I personally was very disappointed---Bob Martin just excels in this role. Also missing was Danny Burstein as Adolpho (sp?). His u/s was good---I just missed that extra edge that Danny B. gives it. The great part of the show was seeing Beth Leavel-- (she was out the first time I saw it----I think she had bronchitis). What an amazing performance! Totally Tony-deserving!

YAY! How was Sutton?

P.S. You get an A+ for doing a search! re: The Drowsy Chaperone Review-11/18 Matinee

Sutton was outstanding, as usual! The only reason I'm not more disappointed that she's leaving is because she's joining the cast of Young Frankenstein! (I wish she could be cloned and be in both shows!!!)
