Saw the show tonight - Unfortunately, was a little disappointed with Saget. Either his mic was way too low, or he wasn't projecting because you couldn't hear him that well at all and numerous times throughout the show you completely lost what he said.

If you haven't seen it with Bob Martin, you will love Saget's performance. If you HAVE seen it with Bob Martin, you will want to leave after Fancy Dress.

On the bright side, he added a couple of his own jokes. There was one about the weather being warm in November due to global warming.. and there was another about there being a sexual innuendo in the title "Love is always Lovely in the End". And after he got done talking about how he likes to think of Percy Hyman being sweaty after a dance performance and he covered his "area" with his sweater like he had an erection, and sat back down.

And did anyone notice that JoAnn Worley can't dance? Not to be negative.. cause I loved her and she was great.. but during Toledo Surprise when the record skips, she was throwing off the choreography because she was skipping with the wrong beats haha! I wasn't aware that she couldnt dance!

Mara Davi was great.. She did not jump through the rope on the rope trick though.. she just kind of swirled it and then threw it off stage.. Isn't she supposed to jump through it?

Is the ending to the show different than it used to be?

Saw the show tonight as well and did not miss a word that Saget said.

Ah, just seems there has been a stream of Chaperone understudy posts recently. Good to see she is back.

Speaking as someone who never saw the show before, I didn;t mind Saget at all and found him rather enjoyable, with his added jokes (that you could tell were added since they were a bit off color). I could tell though that his man in chair was entirely different than Bob Martin. But you have to give him credit for bringing an entirely new spin on it.

I thought Mara Davi was a bit lack luster... and JoAnne fell as a little flat, not landing any jokes besides the spit take. Overall though I loved the show and felt like Saget only added to it, not take away. He pleasantly surprised me.

I saw Saget at the Wednesday matinee and really enjoyed him. It'd been about a year and half since I'd seen the show so I came into it with fresh eyes so to speak. I do remember Bob Martin's delivery on certain lines having much more of an impact and Saget did play the character in such a way that he garnered less sympathy. I really liked the new throw in jokes about global warming and his bit after "Love is Lovely in the End", which sadly few in the audience even got. I heard some people whisper "huh" to that one. I think Saget did an admirable job considering he has not even been in the show a week.

I love that someone pointed out that JoAnne can't dance! She cracks me up during Toledo Surprise because she just can't do it.

The global warming joke is not one of Bob Saget's "own" jokes. Bob Martin used the line in the show when it opened last month in Toronto. I guess they just decided to add it to the Broadway production.

The "sexual innuendo" remark after "Love Is Always Lovely" has been in the show since it debuted on Broadway in April 2006. The sweater bit after the Percy Hyman "sweating and panting" line has also been in the show since the first night of previews on Broadway.

That's all. re: Drowsy Review (10/26/2007) w/ Bob Saget

Thank you miss pennywise. I saw it in June 2006 so it has been a while. But I thought I remembered those lines.

I find it funny how many missed those rather off-colored jokes when seeing Drowsy. That is why I wasn't shocked by seeing Bob S. step up. This type of dialog is very common in Canadian Comedy. If anything to kind of make fun of us American's and our imagined censorship. Though saying that would mean they really care what we think and usually that isn't the case. They are just being Canadian. They rather like to prance around it though than throw it at you in your face.

Poor JoAnne, she really does seem to love playing the part. Maybe she is more Mrs. Tottendale then you hoped for? I think it is rather funny though that she can't dance! They really should throw in a line to that effect to play it up some rather than hide it. In a show like Drowsy, it can only add to the humor of Mrs. Tottendale. I might be able to see it one last time. If only your NY weather wasn't rotten overall. Time will tell.
