Well, they may be "hard to procure" this year, but these shows are produced assuming a multi year run, and we all know what happened to White Christmas during its second year...(And the grinch for that matter).
I hope the show succeeds. I'm just observing that the one of the "engines" that sold tickets to "Grinch" and "WC" doesn't exist for Elf. The film is 8 years old, and is still closely associated with Will Ferrell is who still with us.

I expected the mixed reviews, but I'm just flummoxed by the positive attention the "Nobody Cares About Santa" number is getting. To me, it was one of the weakest numbers in the show. Maybe I was just distracted by all the pointless choreography of the number. Oh well.

I haven't really looked...but I was under the impression that only WEEKEND tix were hard to come by.
And let's face it: when it comes to FAMILY entertainment, quality seldom is a required factor.
For the record: my kids 10 & 13 have not desire to see this.

The Bergen Record is mostly negative---calls it commercial advertisment.

It makes no difference. It's an 8 Week run and the title alone will sell out the show. If people do not like it, the WOM will take longer to reach the people negatively than the already positive reinforcement they have from the successful TITLE to buy the tix.
Reviews and WOM for this show will only effect its touring possibilities and if it will come back next year. This year they will sell incredibly well, even though the reviews are less than stellar.
