Previews for the Jimmy Buffett jukebox musical Escape to Margaritaville begin in just a few days (Friday, February 16, 2018) at the Marquis Theatre. Starring a handful of Broadway favorites like Paul Alexander Nolan, Alison Luff, and Lisa Howard, Escape to Margaritaville is set to open officially on Thursday, March 15 for an open run.

I am interested to hear what everyone thinks. I've been a Buffett fan since the 70s and a theater fan since high school so my two worlds are colliding! Kind of thrilling - kind of scary - not a big fan of juke box musicals but I'm hoping that his show rises above that label.
There are some mezzanine seats available for opening night on TIckemaster. I bought two yesterday. Beyond excited!

Honestly can't say I'm a fan or not of his music, but curious to see the show. Does anyone know of a rush policy? I see it's on TDF for a few dates next week.

Haven't heard about a rush policy but last few rows of Mezz were $49 + fees with code Mail.

Using a code you should call Ticketmaster and get the price u paid in better seats! I’ve done it before when i paid and then a discount came out.

So according to your loic, artists that have sold more music than Buffett all have hit musicals then...right? Yeah, those smash hit shows with music by the Beatles, Sinatra, Elvis, and The Beach Boys were all blockbusters and ran for years and years.

I so enjoy when people on this board are purposefully obtuse. QueenAlice's original question was who the audience for the show was. Mik66 pointed out that the audience is the millions upon millions of people who have bought and listened to Buffett's musicals. Pointing out that there is a huge audience of his fans is not the same as saying the show will be a hit.

Posted: 2/17/18 at 12:34amI went. I only went to see Alison Luff and she was amazing. As for the show I found it to be a bit strange. They do serve margaritas on the rocks and frozen. I didn't get any as the line was out the doors.

Hey mailhandler777, how many people were dressed as Parrotheads in the audience? When I saw the show in La Jolla, there were tons.
I'm guessing the margaritas were 20 bucks.

Who would have thought that two new musicals in the same season would deal with exploding volcanos? Truly, the theatre never ceases to amaze.
I can't say I was amazed by tonight's musical though, which provided far from explosive entertainment.
I found it lacking in vitality and drive; laughs were few and far between; several characters proved less than winning company; the songs registered but middlingly; and the formulaic book unfolded slowly and unexcitingly.
By evening's end, I was more than ready to escape from Margaritaville.
Running time: 2 1/2 hours.

Well, Come Fly Away was a reasonable hit (on Broadway and on the road), and Beatlemania was a smash for the better part of a decade (if you're referring in your snark to Rain / Let It Be, clearly you don't know what precedent those stem from). Elvis and The Beach Boys may not have sold, but two out of your four did better than okay, so your argument's a bit flawed.
