Saw it Thursday for the ninth or tenth time (twice paying and the rest of the time as an usher). This show keeps getting better and better.

(Hope the audio troubles get cleared up by Tuesday, though!)

Should I see it? I really have no interest in it, but for the sake of seeing it?

Of course you should see it, Tag! It's ridiculous how much fun the show is. I think there are only a couple of gags that you won't quite get if you haven't seen the movies.

I see about 30 shows a year (plus probably another 20 or so during the Fringe and Summerworks) and nothing has ever really come close to the audience response this show gets night after night.

And congratulations to the show for debuting at #4 on Billboard's cast recordings chart last week!

It's more funny than scary. I would, however, suggest that you NOT sit in the "splatter zone".

The shrieks in the audience are from laughter, not fear. But there is a ton of blood.

They call the first two rows the "splatter zone", but it's not just incidental splatter from the stage. It's more because the people in those seats come out of the show looking like extras in a splatter horror movie. You'll probably want to avoid row 3 (the first table row) just to be safe.

Ooooh Yes! Having seen the show at New World (November 30, 2006), I can surely attest to the madcap hilarity that EVIL DEAD The Musical provides!

A buddy of mine, who I treated in seeing it the first time, is seeing the show later this month. I hooked had hooked him up with the tix, and I would be going too (but, of course, I'm swamped with performances - ugh!) lol Nevertheless, I don't think discounts / student rush are available for this particular production. It's a limited run as is.

Ha! I didn't realize that was Sarah Cornell. I was confused during the show because I remember Matt Olmstead as being about a head taller than me, but on stage he looked really short. That explains it...

For me the standout in this production is Rachel Fischer as Cheryl. It's a bit sad that Danielle Meierhenry is not playing the role this time around (she always got a fantastic audience response), but Rachel Fischer is awesome. Her expressions while posing beside Sarah Cornell at the end of the opening song are freakin' hilarious!

[EDIT: It's possible that this may have been understudy Andrea Irwin, rather than Rachel Fischer.]

If you order through Ticketmaster, you can get 15% off with the code EVIL. But because of Ticketmaster's service charges the price ends up being about the same as when you order directly through the web site and get your tickets "will call".

I was lucky enough to get half price tickets to the previews because I was on their mailing list. They also had 2-for-1 tickets at the previews if you wanted to come back during the rest of the run. (I'm kicking myself for not having done so.)

The theatre is pretty small, though, so even if you get cheap seats, you'll be pretty close to the stage. Just try not to sit too far off to the sides. Also, if you have to choose sides, sit on the right hand side of the room (i.e. stage left) because some of the action takes place out of a trap door that faces that way (although it's much less of an issue now than it has been in the previous versions). On the old set the kitchen at the back of the set also faced in that direction but now it faces straight out.

You haven't seen it yet. BSo? You're going to have such a good time- and it's amazing how well Ryan Ward captures Bruce Campbell, and somewhat resembles him too!

My friend Rick Domeier (from QVC) is in the EVIL DEAD 2 movie. He plays Ed Getley. I was never able to pry Rick away from Pennsylvania to see EVIL DEAD: THE MUSICAL while it was running in NYC. I just sent him the CD, though.
