EVITA in London and video clips

Ok, those video clips are AMAZING!!! Elena Roger sounds wonderful and the set design looks INCREDIBLE!!

I like in the photos how Che isn't necessarily Che Guevara - I don't know that for sure, but it looks like he's an everyman; as in the original concept recording and the movie. If that's the case, I WANT THAT ROLE if it transfers here and they don't have Philip Quast come with it. If they are casting it young; he looks young - I WANT THAT ROLE - AND I have the chops to do it 8 times a week EVITA in London and video clips

Sorry - don't mean to be campaigning - but that's one of my favorite shows (if not THE favorite) and it looks like a beautiful production!

Very nice!
Although Elena Rogers' voice doesn't sound as strong to me in those clips as everyone says...
But I guess it would be wrong to judge just from those short clips.
In the real world the only people who burst into song are the hopelessly deranged...

The clips are wonderful.

and wow, Elena really got RAVE reviews. I hope she transfers with the show, IF it transfers here.

re: EVITA in London and video clips

hmm- Elena certainly doesn't sound as powerful as Patti LuPone, but those clips are still great! I'm loving the full-screen-ness.

Che is really cute...

It's nice to see Evita actually sound like an Argentinian, *cough*Madonna*cough*.
If Percy Blakeney were in Les Mis....

Percy: Sink me! If it isn't Javvurt!
Javert: Zsah-vair, it's pronounced Zsah-vair.
Pecry: But it's spelled J-A-V-E-R-T Javvurt.
Javert: Repeat after me Zsah...Zsah....
Percy: Oh! Zsa-Zsa! Like the Gabor sister! Well I personally have always prefered Eva.
Javert: (Looks for gun)

re: EVITA in London and video clips

I've said it before and I'll say it again... Che is hooooot! And, most importantly, not Guevara! YAY!

I too am also happy that for once Eva sounds like an Argentine. It bothers me how in the American Premiere Recording, EVERYONE has (bad) Spanish accents except for Eva and Che. It's kind of like how Marguerite's the only one with a French accent in the Scarlet Pimpernel.
Jimmy, what are you doing here in the middle of the night? It's almost 9 PM!

Matt Rawle is incredibly hot as Che. That was from a fourth row stalls perspective and seeing him in civvies and sandals afterwardsre: EVITA in London and video clips

I like that it actually sounds like Argentina. Elena seemed liek she would be awesome. And i agree with the Che statements lol.
Yes, I know my profile name is spelled incorrectly. That's what happens when you don't spell check and just push done. I wear it as a reminder to spell check.

re: EVITA in London and video clips

Just got home from the first night after the first night - great show. The set really puts the piece firmly in its historical context. De-politicising Che and making him a cynical peasant emphasises Eva's credo - we can't change the fundamentals of politics - let's razzle dazzle 'em!

All of the cast is strong - but the evening belongs to Elena Roger. I've just watched the website clips and they don't do her performance justice - she is electrifying. She has a stage presence like no-one I've seen in the part. The whole audience was on its feet.

I TOTALLY concur with RustyRockette.

This sounds AMAZING.

I PRAY it transfers.

Not to mention that the West End season right now is RIDICULOUS.

It was really choppy for me too, Zepka. What I did see/hear from it, it looks and sounds great. Can't wait to get the cast recording.

re: EVITA in London and video clips

RealPlayer is not working for me. (Figures!) How do I install QuickTime? FYI, I have Windows XP (if it makes a difference). I really want to view the clips! HELP!

re: EVITA in London and video clips

It looks very good, but the reviews seemed to be dead on.

Having a true Argentinian takes away some vocal clarity and power...

re: EVITA in London and video clips

Well, I managed to install QuickTime. However, only the first clip will play. When I click on the other two, all I get is a white screen. Did I do something wrong?

re: EVITA in London and video clips

Why can't all official show site have great quality clips like that (meaning why does POTO still have those awful, tiny, blurry, choppy, garbled clips?).

re: EVITA in London and video clips

OK, not to sound mean-spirited, but what the heck happened to Philip Quast? He looks twice his normal size. He used to be kinda hunky....
