• Spider-Man may be doing well, but its reported $1.2 million nut (the overhead cost to run the show every night) will be tough for the production to crack, as it only earned an average $1.6 million per week since mid June.
• Bringing the touring company of Tony-winner Hair back to Broadway this July for a summer-only stint turned out to be a flop. The show filled only 52 percent of it seats and had the lowest average ticket price on Broadway, $49.
• Sister Act, Billy Elliot, Memphis, Priscilla Queen of the Desert, The Addams Family and Baby It’s You have been in constant decline since July. The latter two shows (along with 16th place Catch Me if You Can) have already announced their impending closing.
More here; Wicked, Lion King, Mormon big winners
Such a shame about Hair. I'm infinitely glad they brought it back, but it was definitely not a good move.

Did they drastically increase seating capacity at the Foxwoods for Spider Man, or are they confusing it with the Fox Theatres in Atlanta, Detroit, and St. Louis (any other cities I'm forgetting?). Not sure where they get the idea that the Foxwoods, or any other Broadway theatre, is four times the size of the O'Neil.
Can Spider-man actually gross much more than $1.6 million?

"Can Spider-man actually gross much more than $1.6 million?"
The grosses page for last week listed its potential gross at $1,970,240.
I think there is a typo. It costs $1.2 million to run the show every NIGHT?! Or week?
I think the article is badly written haha. It's $1.2 million A WEEK. If it were $1.2 A NIGHT then that would surely be HUGE news here lol
Spider-Man is the only show that I've ever wished an early closing to.
I imagine Billy Elliot. Memphis, and Sister Act will be gone by the 1st of the year. Priscilla probably sooner.
Billy Elliot really has declined quite a bit. I think it very well could end its run this year.
I'm surprised Priscilla is still open...I can't imagine it having much appeal to tourists
Hair picked the wrong theater. The St. James was way too big.
I see several shows they listed as being gone by New Year's. Sister Act might survive with some stunt casting(bringing in Whoopi during the winter??)
I`m with both fingerlakessinger and ACL2006...
Firstly, it IS definitely a terribly written article.
Secondly, I think it`s awesome that HAIR came back to Broadway for a stint during it`s tour (IMO it could have lasted longer on Broadway originally if the OBRC had not transferred to London for its flop run). Pretty rare for a touring prod. of a departed show to land back on a Broadway stage (In THIS particular context with THIS show. I know some out there will nit-pick about the fact in general). The St. James was not the best house.
But I don`t think it`s fair to consider it a bad move or a flop. Maybe from a financial standpoint for Jujamcyn. But HAIR`s limited return did give 10-12 company members their Bway debut, and audience members who love the show got another chance to experience it, share it with someone, and some just discovered it. In that sense, I think it`s pretty
fan-freakin-tastic!
Even though Hair's remounting on Broadway is being considered a "flop", I'm still glad it's there. Of all of the shows on Broadway it is STILL one of the best written, scored, and performed shows out, and one of the most important of our time.
That article is daft
So Spider Man has to make 1.2 million a week and yet is constantly way over that since 2.0 started and they are putting down as a loser?
