My cousin is coming into the city from Oklahoma next week. She can't really afford to buy tickets to anything, but she really wants to see a show. Is there any lotto or rush we could be guarenteed tickets to?
Rock of Ages lotto is pretty easy. There are 32 seats, and last week I was one of five loosers (I have the worst lotto luck). They also have student rush.
I've heard the Shrek Lotto is super easy. They just changed the rules, and a friend went once, and they had more lotto tickets then people who showed up. But I can't speak for how popular it has been this summer. But Shrek did just change their Lottery details, so that throws a lot of people off. I really enjoyed Shrek, over Rock of Ages, but it depends on what you like. The ones to Avoid are Wicked, West Side Story, and Hair. they are the most popular.

Also keep in mind the times for lottos.
Most are at 6pm for an 8pm curtain, but on Tuesday evenings (since many shows are at 7pm) and Sunday afternoons (since many shows are at 2 or 3) lottos don't always overlap and you can try your luck at more than one.
Rock of Ages is always 6:30 for an 8 curtain so you can do a hard lotto before that.
If your cousin is in on a Sunday I recommend:
Avenue Q at 12pm
In the Heights at 12:30pm
WSS/Hair/Wicked at 1pm
or something like that
There is no EASY lotto. But your odds are best with ROCK OF AGES and SHREK.
9 to 5 I would say. 4 of us put our names in tonight and 3 of them got called (we only wanted 2 tickets!).
Also won the Wicked Lottery tonight for my dad and sister so it can happen even if the odds are stacked against you! We lost Rock of Ages last night but got the rush tickets. Won In The Heights on Sunday, 2nd off last to be called!!!

I think Rock of Ages is front row, but when my daughter and I tried it, we were the ONLY TWO LOSERS. That's right, there were two more people that there were tickets, and we walked away empty handed.
Silver lining: we wound up with rush tickets to Mary Stuart.

Rock of Ages changed their policy... they only have 28 seats now, they got rid of the two front row pairs. all lotto seats are partial view up the sides of the orchestra.
In The Heights has been pretty easy now, too. I went a few weeks ago and there were about 40 people there. Only about 30 wanted seats, so 8 people didn't win, and they were offered $41.50 seats in the rear orchestra.
