I love Patti she is funny and bright but she
acts as if she is the only "ARTIST" in NYC
She was angry that all these TV stars got roles in theater
when BEBE and Marilu Henner were in Chicago..well she was also on a TV show-just never at the same level as those 2...
she always seems so bitter it is tiresome
Would love to see both of these ladies next month at Barnes & Noble in Lincoln Center, when they come in and do thier book signings. Elaine's book is a treasure trove of pics and great stories on all of the shows that she's done.

I was unaware that Paige also had a book coming out. I'll have to check that out as well.
Apparently Patti is now a two-time Grammy award winner.

Now she's like Bernadette!!!!
Yeah, Patti won her two Grammys as a performer in The Rise and Fall of the City of Mahagonny back in 2009. Audra McDonald also has two Grammys from the same opera.
Actually it was the recording that won. It won Best Classical Album and Best Opera Recording.
Yes, and the principal soloists receive Grammy Awards in those categories.
Do principals in cast albums also receive Grammy awards?
No. According to the Grammy website, for Best Musical Show Album: "Award to the Album Producer(s), and to the Lyricist(s) & Composer(s) of 51% or more of a new score."
Its been floating around for years, but a friend just sent me the complete 'live' audio recording that exists of the original London cast of EVITA and it was totally fascinating to listen to.
To respond to the original question, listening to Paige's entire performance, its clear that she utilized a healthier head/mix on the upper notes than LuPone probably did early in her run.
Its not always as exciting a sound as LuPone's but I have to say Paige sounds pretty terrific and is super dynamic; she's definitely is not less 'tentative' - her Evita is really a tiger and a great deal of fun.
Interesting to think about how Pagie and LuPone's careers might have been different if Paige were allowed to repeat her performance on Broadway. If this musical were happening today, I think there is no question she would have transferred with the production.

Keeping, it simple, Lupone talks, Paige doesn't. Nothing wrong with being candid. Nothing wrong with being discreet.
Two different women. Two great talents. Two different ways of going through life.
