One of the all time legends - is amazing how many of the great theatre roles she took on - both on stage and on film. One of Tennessee Williams major muses, its interesting that she died so close to his 100 year birthday.
Some of her great theatre/film roles:
Martha, Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf
Kate, Taming of the Shrew
Desiree, A Little Night Music
Sissy Goforth, Boom (aka The Milk Train Doesn't Stop Here Anymore)
Catherine, Suddenly Last Summer
Maggie, Cat on a Hot Tin Roof
Alexandra, Sweet Bird of Youth
Amanda, Private Lives
Regina, The Little Foxes

Everything about her was just extraordinary. Her talent, her beauty, her class, her life. Everything.
This is a sad day. May she rest in peace.

A truly inspirational woman.
I remember seeing her at a restaurant during her The Little Foxes run. Her eyes really were that violet and her smile really was that beautiful.
