She was one of those people, who, on so many levels, made the world a better place.
One of the all time legends - is amazing how many of the great theatre roles she took on - both on stage and on film. One of Tennessee Williams major muses, its interesting that she died so close to his 100 year birthday.
Some of her great theatre/film roles:
Martha, Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf
Kate, Taming of the Shrew
Desiree, A Little Night Music
Sissy Goforth, Boom (aka The Milk Train Doesn't Stop Here Anymore)
Catherine, Suddenly Last Summer
Maggie, Cat on a Hot Tin Roof
Alexandra, Sweet Bird of Youth
Amanda, Private Lives
Regina, The Little Foxes
Very sad news.
Dame Elizabeth was taking about AIDS waaaay before it became fashionable to do so.

A gifted actress, a true beauty, and a wonderful human being!
Thanks for the legacy, Dame Elizabeth!
Everything about her was just extraordinary. Her talent, her beauty, her class, her life. Everything.
This is a sad day. May she rest in peace.

Got to see her with Richard Burton in "Private Lives" not long before he passed. May she rest in peace.
I hope the lights are dimmed for her tonight. What a great great loss.
"I call upon you to draw from the depths of your being — to prove that we are a human race, to prove that our love outweighs our need to hate, that our compassion is more compelling than our need to blame." ~ Elizabeth Taylor (February 27, 1932 - March 23, 2011)
Gone, but she is one who will never be forgotten.

A truly inspirational woman.
I remember seeing her at a restaurant during her The Little Foxes run. Her eyes really were that violet and her smile really was that beautiful.
The glamour's gone. She really was the last living Movie Star.
The family is asking for donations to her foundation in leiu of flowers.
I will definitely be gathering together all my Liz movies for a marathon.
