"So is it official? BWW seems to think it is."
I think they are basing it on the artsbeat post from the NYTimes, so that's pretty high-level speculation.

Ugh. :P Why is the stupid site letting me buy them then?
How are the bar rail seating seats on the side? Worth the $82?

Posted: 8/11/14 at 7:56pmThe site let me buy two sets of HipTix, too, then I got a call from Roundabout a couple weeks later telling me I needed to return one of them. :/ I've never sat in the bar rail seats so can't really speak to them, but the ones in the back seem better overall than the ones up front on the sides.

How come you only had to return one of the tickets? I only need one so if for some reason I can get one, I would like to.

I wonder if Andrew Garfield can sing, he should totally play Cliff. That would be so cute.

Posted: 8/12/14 at 8:59amI agree. I had stated in an earlier thread that she was too big a star to be a replacement. Just goes to show how much I know.

I don't see it as a "step down" at all. This is clearly a role Stone felt strongly about wanting to play, so why not go do it on Broadway in such a fabled production opposite the legendary performance of Alan Cumming? For someone who works as often in film as she does, it's significantly easier to come in and do a shorter stint as a replacement than making the almost year long commitment it would have required to open the show initially. That's not feasible for her, but this is.
I say bravo. I can't wait to see what she brings to the stage.

"The rumor earlier this year was that she backed out due to nerves at the last minute"
Yes this is what happened. I'm curious to see if she decides to go through with it. What has changed now?

As I said in my earlier post, IF the rumor was even true, it makes a lot of sense that she would be much more comfortable making her Broadway debut outside of the pressure involved with opening a show (the press leading up to it, the reviews, the early buzz on the message boards during previews, the Tony process). This way, she can come in, play a role that she's clearly dying to play, and get a chance to work on her stage presence without having to worry so much about all the extra stuff.
And whoever says this is a step down is completely misguided and pretty ridiculous. Good for Emma Stone for not having those absurd pretensions, just come to show you how much she genuinely wants to be on stage and play this part. I, for one, will be buying my ticket the second she is confirmed.

Posted: 8/12/14 at 1:09pmI was very excited when she was initially named as the first choice for Sally, and I'm equally excited at the prospect of her getting to play it now.

Posted: 8/14/14 at 4:50amAs someone who saw Williams, I would advise holding out to see Emma Stone. I didn't enjoy Williams performance at all and think Stone will be a big upgrade. I wish I had gotten to see her. Might have to go back...
#40Emma Stone may replace Williams in Cabaret
Posted: 8/14/14 at 10:44amI don't see how she'll be an upgrade if she's likely to lose her voice.

Posted: 8/14/14 at 10:50amI'd rather see her than Williams again. I hope they confirm this soon!

Posted: 8/14/14 at 11:41amShe's not supposed to be a great singer but if she loses her voice all together, that's a problem.

Posted: 8/14/14 at 1:08pmAnyone know when they will make this 100% official? Because I want to buy some tickets for a night in December, but want to make sure Emma Stone is officially in it first.

Posted: 8/19/14 at 10:40amI have no idea when this will be made official (if ever) and have absolutely no insider knowledge, but personally, I feel like Michelle Williams will extend again and stay until January with the rest of the current cast. But please don't choose whether or not to buy tickets based on my guess. :)
