Yes, Marquise, that is exactly what this is.
I so hate Emmy Rossum that this entire thread exists solely to trash her into the ground, exposing her every flaw for the world to see so that they, too, can hate her as much as I.
Let's go over what I said, shall we?
1. Thought Emmy was dubbed in various parts of the soundtrack as they sound markedly different to me.
2. Said so on board.
3. Other people call Emmy mean to work with.
4. Other people say Emmy has a weak voice.
5. Dare to suggest that Patrick Wilson sings better than the Goddess Emmy and Gerard Butler, who is definitely the world's greatest Phantom ever.

Yep, sure seems like I hate her.
For the record, I think she is quite stunningly beautiful, not half bad as an actress, FAR more enjoyable to watch than the ubiquitous Lindsay Lohan or Hillary Duff and nowhere near as annoying.
However, I think Patrick Wilson was certainly the best singer of the three leads and that parts of the score don't sound as if they were sung by the same Christine.
Not hate. Not even dislike. Genuine curiosity.

I went back and listened to it after reading this and I must say I agree. I don't know if she was dubbed or what but @ least the singer of the title song's voice sounds more...MATURE, I suppose. This could just be by virtue that Emmy is 18 and as such her voice is constanlt maturing but who knows.

Well...was Emily Rossum dubbed?

Who knows.

Should she have been dubbed?

YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

All of you are making excuses for her and her age and maybe it's Schumacher who wanted her to sing breathily. But all of you have completed disregarded the central conceit of this piece which is the 'understudy' steps up, astonishes the audience with her vocal prowess and becomes a new star.

That is not what happened in this movie because she does not have the vocal chops for this role.

She is lovely to look at and a good actress. And they should have had Audra dub her vocals.

I am also a singer and I thought it sounded like someone different on the title song at the end....if you listen to her on "think of me" she gets really pinched on "unchanging" (we never said our love was evergreen or as unchanging as the sea), and "my" (imagine me, trying to hard to put you from my mind), and I think both of those are only like an E or E flat. I think from the high A onward, that's someone else's voice. But that's just me speculating.

If you listen to the OBCR, Sarah Brightman sounds just as different from the rest of the show in the title song as Emmy does, at least in my opinion. The beginning of the song is much lower than the rest of her part in the show and you'd expect the different, lower register to produce a different sound, as Brightman also demonstrates. Toward the end of the song, when it climed back into her high soprano register, they both sound more like "their selves".

I think that the excuse of age does not apply always. She is 18, and she does have room to grow (obviously), but if people are wondering if she was dubbed, she probably wasn't right for the part. I didn't like her voice in this part, and maybe she wasn't MATURE enough for the role... then she didn't deserve to be in the movie as the female lead.

Ok, I doubt Emmy was dubbed. Emmy sounded great and it did sound like her through the whole movie. Anyway-Dale Kristin can't sing for her life, why would they bring her in?
