No, there's been no announcement as of yet.

Seems like somebody's jumped the gun and put them on the City Center website.

ANYONE CAN WHISTLE is particularly exciting.

That is an awesome season! I've always wanted to see Girl Crazy in its original form and Anyone Can Whistle is just the perfect show for them!

Oh my God! I am beyond thrilled about the idea of ANYONE CAN WHISTLE. And wow, I wonder if they have anyone lined up for GIRL CRAZY.
The casting possibilities for ANYONE CAN WHISTLE are fantastic, I can't believe we basically have to wait a year for it though.

AMAZING! I was just listening to ANYONE CAN WHISTLE thinking Encores should do it next season.

Any chance Lansbury would reprise her role???

Jordan, I'm gonna think no. But, you never know.
Some people paint, some people sew, I meddle.

re: Encores! 2009-2010 Season

Would the eighty something Angela reprise her role as the forty something Mayoress who has to sing and dance up a storm ala Kay Thompson? No.

re: Encores! 2009-2010 Season

Lansbury already skipped the chance of reprising her role back in the 90s when the GHMC (I believe) did a concert version at Carnegie Hall. She narrated the show instead.
I've said about a hundred times that Meryl Streep, Neil Patrick Harris and Jane Krakowski would be absolute perfection for the three principals. However, it being Encores! I assume it'll be more like Christine Ebersole (please no) or Marin Mazzie, Jason Danieley (whom I wouldn't mind), and Jenny Powers.

Ray, do you think there may be a chance our beloved Donna Murphy might do it? And of course I'm hoping that my beloved Debbie Gravitte would be considered. I would like Judy Kuhn or Laura Benanti as Fay myself. As for the guy, Stephen Pasquale or even Raul Esparza would be perfection for me.

My choice would be NPH, Jane and Donna Murphy for Anyone Can Whistle.

Finally - they're doing rare musicals. I mean, we all love seeing Gypsy, Bye Bye Birdie and Damn Yankees, but it's nice to see them digging up forgotten works ("Whistle" aside).

I'd love to see them do some well-known musicals too, though - Into the Woods and Little Shop plz?

Jewishboy, I don't want to get too excited, but I think our beloved Donna is definitely a possibility but given their latest casting I think they might be more inclined to Ebersole. Debbie Gravitte would indeed be excellent as Cora but you know I'm partial to Donna. I also love the idea of Stephen Pasquale as Hapgood, I think he'd be fabulous.
Husk, yours is an ideal cast and I'd pee my pants a little if it came true.

ANYONE CAN WHISTLE at Encores! is the best news we've had in a while. I'm sure whoever they cast will be top notch, and I will probably see this quite a few times during its five-performance run (hopefully at least three times). Fantastic news!

I hope this is true! I will get a subscription to the three shows because I enjoy all of them! Anyone Can Whistle will be great fun to see!

I will be listening to Fanny on the train today after this news!! What a great score! (And Anyone Can Whistle isn't too bad either)
Marie: Don't be in such a hurry about that pretty little chippy in Frisco. Tony: Eh, she's a no chip!

Piragua-
You do realize that Gypsy and Damn Yankees were part of Summer Stars, which has never had the goal to do obscure musicals, but to match stars and roles, right?

Birdie has yet to have a Broadway revival, and while it is commonly done in High Schools, it is still fair game for Encores!

I clicked the link and didn't see anything mentioned. It would be cool if this is a go.

re: Bye Bye Birdie. Isn't that announced for Roundabout next season?

re: Encores! 2009-2010 Season

I wasn't suggesting Birdie for Encores...it's been done before.

But yes, JBSinger. Open calls for teens are next week.

Though I love the score of ANYONE CAN WHISTLE and any chance to hear it is a joy, I don't think they can top the Peters/Khan/Bacula cast.
FANNY and GIRL CRAZY are great choices.

Phyllis, that's a fabulous idea and she has done Encores! before so it's not a far-fetched idea either.
