This is easily the best Merrily recording this far.
I don't love Lin on this recording, but he certainly sounds better than in the performance itself.

Posted: 7/1/12 at 7:22pmIf I ordered this now from PS Classics, how long would it take to get to me? Would I have it on/before the 10th (which is only 6 business days from now)? What is their typical shipping time?

I think it is too. But in my opinion, Keenan-Bolger is definitely the weakest Mary of any recording. I even prefer Maria Friedman and her crazy vibrato. Ann Morrison didn't have a very strong voice, but her voice was so full of character.

I didn't see it live, but Keenan-Bolger all but ruins "Now You Know," or at least her passage, by sacrificing the song's melody and swing for perfect diction. We may not hear every single letter of every single word when Ann Morrison sings it, but, at least on the OCR, her solo portion is a showstopper.
With Keenan-Bolger, I can practically hear her thinking, "OK, make sure you stress the T at the end of every 'don't'!"

It's been on repeat for 3 days. I agree with jordy - best recording ever.
Lin Manuel Miranda is the weakest of the 3, but he's not bad by any means.
I've always loved this score. Not A Day Goes By, Good Thing Going, and Our Time never fail to give me chills.

Terrific recording. It won't replaced the OBCR for me--I miss some of that recording's wonderful energy, and still prefer (musically at least) some of the original moments, but it certainly will get a lot more play than the York or UK recordings.
Lizabombs, I have the same reaction to the Overture--while That Frank musically doesn't have the great energy that Rich and Happy did in the original Overture, it still would make it easier for me to not think that something is completely missing. Maybe I just need to get more used to it.

The only reason this will replace the OBCR for me is the completeness of the recording.
I forgot how much was left off the OBCR.

Just got it. Sensational recording. I find Miranda much better on disc than in the production. Great work, again, PS Classics. The orchestrations are lovely and the recording of the vocal arrangements is overwhelmingly gorgeous! I lived by the OBC for years, but, and not just because of the completeness of it, this trumps the original recording, for me.
