That list makes no sense to me. It reads like someone had to quickly compile a list for a deadline, and just jotted down the ones they could think of on the spot.
The list makes no sense, and South Park? No "My Fair Lady", but South Park? WTF...WTF indeed!
I'm very happy that Once made the list, as it's my favorite movie musical, and one of my favorite movies of all time. As for South Park, I think that it's well deserving of a spot, and didn't Stephen Sondheim call it brilliant or something along those lines?
Also, I agree with those wondering where Sweeney Todd, Jesus Christ Superstar, and Dreamgirls are.
Hey who wrote this list anyway? "Marry Poppins", A Star In Born"?

A list of the best anything that includes Rob Marshall's foul sbortion CHICAGO is list by idiots without eyes to see or ears to hear or brains to think.
It can only be a list made by Rob Marshall himself.

No Evita, Sweeney Todd or Dreamgirls?
Poppycock.

I love that word.

No Hedwig or Little Shop? Rocky Horror? WHAT ABOUT L'IL ABNER!!?
And are we just going to pretend The Boyfriend and All That Jazz don't exist? The Boyfriend is better than most of these especially Hairspray and Chicago. And I'm surprised no one has mentioned Michel Legrand's amazing Umbrellas of Cherbourg.
I even think The Apple is better than a lot of these.
The Apple (1978)
That list is obviously coming from a writer or group of writers with no real background in the history of the movie musical.
Off the top of my head, missing from that list: Sweet Charity, All That Jazz, My Fair Lady, Whit Christmas, and Hedwig.
Hell, I'd even put Hair, Pajama Game, Lil' Abner, Dancer in the Dark, 8 Women, Bells are Ringing, There's No Business Like Show Business, and several others over some of those titles. Hairspray wouldn't even be on my top 50. And I liked the film.
If any single musical film from the last 5 years deserves a place on that list it's Sweeney Todd.

Well at least they got number 1 right. The rest are horribly out of order, but all of my personal favorites are at least represented somewhere on the list (Sound of Music, Meet Me in St. Louis, West Side Story, Funny Girl, Mary Poppins, Star is Born, Chicago). Well, except Moulin Rouge.

I really have no problem with South park being on the list, but listed higher than Sound of Music is kind of strange. I'm glad Mary Poppins is on there too (at least for Julie Andrews), but I think Sound of Music is the better film. Having Gigi on there is nice too, but not having My Fair Lady is also strange. I also think The Little Mermaid should be in there, but that's just a personal opinion.
