Don't they post this EVERY year?
What an idiotic move to list "The Busby Berkely Disc" as a movie musical.
Why not list "That's Entertainment" or some other best-of clip show then? Or just numbers?
Pick one Berkely movie or pick something else.
No Little Shop? Balderdash!
Where's "My Fair Lady?"
Uh, where's Dreamgirls...?
How is Hairspray before A Star Is Born, Chicago, The Sound of Music, Funny Girl, Beauty and the Beast, etc etc?
No list without Hedwig is no list at all.
Oliver!
For crap's sake.
I don't know if I'm more upset that The Sound of Music is only 19, or that The Sound of Music is below Hairspray.
My Fair Lady should be in there somewhere. And speaking of Rex Harrison, although it's maybe not one of the best, Doctor Dolittle is a guilty pleasure as well.
No Showboat or Porgy & Bess on the list either.
Well, I think HAIRSPRAY is amazing, so I'm satisfied with its placement. But really? No Little Shop?
This list is ridiculous... Where are Dreamgirls, Sweeney Todd, and Moulin Rogue? They should be on here in my opinion
Glad to see Mary Poppins so high on the list, if only for Julie Andrews.

How South Park is higher than The Sound of Music is beyond me.

In what universe is Hairspray better than Once, or even Beauty and the Beast? I liked Hairspray, I really did, but come on.
Hairspray was cute and all but seriously... it is not one of the best movie musicals of all time... and it Beauty and the Beast is on here where is Little Mermaid?
Omg whoever wrote this should be shot. I don't think Once was good just a few good songs. My Fair Lady or Fiddler on the Roof! Or Dreamgirls. And while I love Mary Poppins SOM is a much better movie!
I have no arguments regarding what was included except for South Park. As great a satire as it is it has no place among the films listed. Personally, I would have ranked Gigi a bit higher but that's just me. We can go 'round and 'round regarding what didn't make the cut. Where's Harvey Girls? Where's Calamity Jane? Annie Get Your Gun? Jumbo? And on and on. But I think we have a pretty decent list. Every film on the list is a good one.
I would argue that the South Park movie, aside from being the only original movie musical we've had in a very long time, is quite brilliant and does deserve a place on the list. As high as it was given? Probably not.
I wish they had given some reasons behind their decisions.
I love the SOUTH PARK movie and I think it definitely should rank on the list, just not so high. Still glad they considered it.
HAIRSPRAY has no place on that list, IMO, at least not as high up as it was. I would have included SWEENEY TODD over HAIRSPRAY.
CHICAGO should have definitely rated higher, IMO.

The Sound of Music came in at No. 19. It should be higher. If anyone is interested I saw 2 cds of the 50th anniversary on ebay. I already have one and found it great listening.

I'm just relieved they didn't include Mamma Mia
Anyone can make a list. It provokes more conversation than have any actual meaning unto itself. Subjective as hell.
