My friend just e-mailed me from the theater (he is seeing it for the second time this evening) and said Radcliffe is there and going on.

I posted that thread, which didn't say either way if he would be in or not, mainly just informational. Don't understand the need to remove it entirely.

Saturday night we went to see Equus, and my kids waited for us in the non-ticket holder cage at the stage door. They said the barricades went up partway through the second act and immediately both were full - the non-ticket holder side and the ticket holder side, which was filled with people with 2:00 PM tickets. That meant that the large number of people who exited our performance 10 minutes early, walking up the aisles or tramping down the stairs from the balcony behind us had no chance at the barricades anyway...all they managed to do was really disturb us and the people around us. I found it very difficult to hear some of the dialog anyway (especially Richard Griffiths) and people walking around and ushers constantly using the drinking fountain in the back of the theater really made it worse. (We were a few rows from the back, far right aisle seats on the main floor).

Anyway, once we were outside we were able to join our kids. Daniel happened to be in a real hurry so he skipped a lot of people, kind of arbitrarily. But it was nice that he stopped to sign anything, because he really was in a hurry. Only one of our three kids got an autograph even though their Playbills were all in a row in front of him. He literally did not sign anything that wasn't right there at the height of his pen - any higher or lower and he skipped over. I have had other people do this though - when they are in a hurry they are just focused on signing and moving along. That's okay. Their goal really was just to snap a picture more than the autographs.

Richard Griffiths came out and signed most Playbills but did skip some. He didn't say anything and kind of seemed annoyed by it all - like he was silently rolling his eyes in his mind. He brushed away a Harry Potter book and made kind of an annoyed "Hmph" sound, and also refused to sign a NYC postcard someone gave him.

I'm very glad we saw the show, and Daniel was very good. I'd love to see him do more live theater. Richard Griffiths was okay - I wasn't overwhelmed. But as other posters have said, they're doing their best in a play that really isn't that relevant anymore. It may have been shocking in the 70's but now...eh...sad to say we've all heard of far worse things than a confused youth blinding some horses and being sent to a psychiatrist. There are no real plot twists and nothing that doesn't really follow from point A to point B. Although we did enjoy it we enjoyed [Title of Show] more, which we saw that afternoon.

I was sitting in Row N on Friday night and I didn't notice the early stampede for the door, but there was a prolonged cell phone ring that stopped the show dead for about 15 seconds. I had tremendous difficulty hearing Richard Griffiths at times - heard everyone else just fine.

When we left the theater, there were crowds of people around the marquee and also across the street. We didn't wait to see what developed. Updated On: 10/13/08 at 12:10 PM

The EQUUS stage door is insane! Especially when there's a 2 PM and 8PM show. Then, there's about 2 full theater's worth of people ouside, and the 2PM people get the best spots before the 8PM people even get out of the show.

On saturday, there were hundreds of people outside on both sides of the street. Apparently, this is how it is every night. I've never seen a bigger stage door rush! Daniel Radcliffe sure knows how to draw a crowd!
