After a matinee of Drowsy today, I went to the Barrymore hoping I'd get a copy of the cast recording after the show. Well I guess one of the theater managers asked the merchandiser who was "resting" if they had any left and he said they were sold out. It pissed me off. Because I am sure the merchandise guy is holding one for his buddy so and so, etc etc, and he probally held some for people so they can pick it up after the show.
I'm mad because I really wanted the damn thing lol. BUT I did get to hear Barbara Walsh's complete LADIES WHO LUNCH, which sounded amazing! and then I saw the amazing FOLLIES, which made me happy again lol.
Just giving you guys a heads up they have to order more because they sold out today.

Posted: 2/12/07 at 12:26amSure was. Just irks me because I KNOW there had to be a couple of them laying around that theatre.

Posted: 2/12/07 at 12:27amYea, they were sold out last night after the show when I went to get a copy. It was quite disappointing. But at least there's only a little over a week before it's available in stores.

I happen to work at Company. The CD's did sell out, and no, there is not one single cd left and there was none "saved" for anybody. And what's this ' "resting" ' business? What do you propose the person was doing? And we should have more CDs at the theater on tuesday.

Posted: 2/12/07 at 1:26amLJay, I was there Saturday night and people were really excited about buying the CD (and by people I mean me). Audiences seemed very enthusiastic, the merchandise booth was full, and also I'm sure one of the major factors was that they were announcing that it was not available in the stores. They neglected to say it would not be available in the stores TILL the official release date. But anyways, it's worth the wait, the CD is quite good, Barbara Walsh' "Ladies Who Lunch" is almost as good as live, and Esparza's solos are brilliant. Only let-down was "You Could Drive A Person Crazy" (as it has been discussed before, it works better when you see it).

- Resting on a job. Don't we all wish we could do it? I know I don't get to lounge around and relax on my job.

Well, no one buys merchandise while the show is going on, so get over it.

- Some shows actually have the merchandise stand set up inside of the theatre for the entire show, though I'm sure no one buys stuff while the show is on.

ljay, you're being a dick.
99.99% of theatres don't have merchandise on sale during the performance. What would be the point? The only possible exceptions I can think of are the 3 Disney shows, and we know why that is.
What on earth would make you think that they weren't really sold out and that the sales associates were HOARDING them for their friends? It's a COMPANY CD...not the holy grail.

CHICAGO, I'm pretty sure has the stand set up for the whole performance, with the person there. There's no point in taking it down, because the Ambassador sells merchandise INSIDE of the theater, not the lobby thing.
But anyway, I'm over it now. I was just letting people know that the theatre was sold out. The theatre manager, or whoever he was was pretty rude to me and my family about it, so I had a right to rant over it. But he eventually softened up and chatted with us.
And please like you've never really looked foward to getting something, and when you can't get it, you're not dissapointed? Right.

Well, because you didn't pay to see the show...you just entered the lobby and essentially bothered someone. He shouldn't be rude...but come on.
And while CHICAGO's merchandise is set up the entire show, they don't SELL during the show. It's a mere 6-7 feet from the last row of the orchestra. Too noisy.

- Of course when I do it, it's bothering someone. But when Emcee (whom I love) and all the others did it, they didn't bother anyone, right?
Anyway, end of discussion. I'm over it.

Emcee and all the others didn't complain about the situation.

You're an idiot.

Well, I sure don't see what what all the fuss is about. Ljay just said that a theatre manager had asked a sales person who was "resting" for the CD. That's what's making all of this fuss? Let's all have some prozac this morning with our cornflakes. I certainly didn't read that as belittling anyone. Oh my god, Ljay used qoutes lets all take offense.
Ljay I would be upset too. Don't let 'em get to you.

Posted: 2/12/07 at 2:23pmPerhaps off-topic from this fight, but has anyone received the CD who ordered in online yet? I'm waiting anxiously, but my mailbox is too far away to check more than once a day unless necessary.

Posted: 2/12/07 at 3:16pmI haven't ordered mine online yet. I was going to wait til it was available in stores, but I called around my area, and no one knew when it was coming out. Does anyone know? Would I be better off just ordering it online? Thanks!

Posted: 2/12/07 at 3:40pmWell according to people who have ordered CDs off the PSclassics website before, they usually get it to you in just a couple of days, and I think stores are getting it in on Feb. 20th. I haven't got mine yet though, and I ordered it online on Thursday...so it's really your call.
