Evan Hansen Seating Question

I just got word that I will be in NYC during the June 1-4 weekend, and while I saw the show in DC, I believe I want to go ahead and buy tickets to see 'Dear Evan Hansen' again - this time with a friend of mine who has never been to NYC before and this would be his first show.

Anyway, as I have very limited knowledge of how seats are in Broadway houses, could someone advise me as to whether I should buy two front row Mezzanine tickets which would be on one of the side sections, or if it would be wiser to go for more centered seats in the Mezzanine, but they would be in the 2nd or 3rd row. (Or is it better to spring for Orchestra seats for this production?)

I'd greatly appreciate any advice. I usually love to get that first row of the Mezzanine, but as it would be on the side - I did wonder...

The people on this board usually agree that there's not a bad seat at Music Box. You could always check View From My Seat!

Personally, I'd go front row mezz....even on the side.

I sat in the mezz, about three rows from the back in the centre section and my view was PERFECT. The theatre is small enough, I didn't feel a million miles away, and it was a great view of the stage and all the social media stuffs floating around.

Hello everyone, I did not want to start a new thread so I am borrowing this one.  Does anyone know if there has been any announcements of vacation (or when their contracts would be up) for any cast members, especially Ben Platt?  I am extremely interested in booking my tickets for next year (my options are January, February, April or May), and was wondering if there was a particular month I should choose to better my chances of seeing this cast.  Any help would be much appreciated!

Not totally related, but I can report that the view from SRO is excellent for this show, so consequently, any seat in the orchestra centerline ought to be , too.

I sat Mid-mezzanine and was completely fine. Honestly if you are in the mezzanine I would probably not pay to be closer to the front because the mezz in Broadway houses is so tiny. I always ask myself is this worth the extra $$$  and I think rare mezz in the Music Box is just as good of a seat as anywhere else in the house. I would always recommend sitting center.

Thanks for the guidance. I actually got the chance to see Pippin towards the end of its run at the Music Box and enjoyed sitting front row center of the Mezzanine.  In any event, I got two tickets in the center of Row D in the Mezzanine for DEH for the first Saturday night in June, so I think I'll enjoy the experience.  As I am going with someone for whom this will be their first ever experience at a Broadway show, it was just really important to me that he would be happy with the seats.

In 2017?  Everyone should still be there, it just opened.  If you mean 2018, there is no way to know.

 

As to the vacation schedule, it's hard to say...no one is above the title here so t here less likelihood of it bring published too far in advance, if at all.

Front Mezz Row A is a little far from the stage for me. Having seen it 8 times (4 times at 2nd Stage and 4 at Music Box , I really appreciate the intimacy when you sit close to the stage, which the show really needs. That said, you'll miss half the amazing projections if you sit in the orchestra.

Only the House Left box is available.  The pianist is located in the House Right box.

Is the stage not disgustingly high for this production? I have the chance to sit Row A of the Center Orchestra for this... Do I not go for that? Now, I'm confused. LOL

I have seen the show twice. I sat in both Row B and C of the Orchestra. 

Row C is perfect. You can see the entire stage and etc. 

Row B is a little too close as you cannot see the entire stage/floor ie shoes and etc. Other than that, it is still a great seat.

Mike, did you miss all the discussion of the stage height during Shuffle Along? I would skip Row A, based on that alone.

My guess is Row A is too close. Depending on your height, you may not be able to see below the actors waist/knees.

Row A is way too close. I wouldn't sit closer than Row C.

I was in the back of the orchestra, and would NOT want to be int he first few rows. the stage itself is very high, especially the platform where more of the show is staged is even higher. Additionally there's lots of stuff going on all throughout the stage and words and projections that are easier to see all at once when you're back a little further. For this show, being up front isn't too great necessarily I don't think.

I recently purchased tickets via Stubhub for January.  I just received the tickets and they are marked "Mobility Impaired".  Do you think I should contact Stubhub about this?  A) I don't wan't to take an accessible seat from someone who may need one, and B) I don't want to get to the theater and be denied the seats.

Mid- center or even rear orch or center front mezz would be good. I was rear orch and had an excellent view of everything.
