Evita Rush

Posted: 10/15/12 at 7:04pmIm looking to rush Evita this Saturday for the matinee... how many people normally come for Evita? Is it more worthwhile for me just to buy online (since I know this is the show I want to see) or will my chances be decent for this?

Posted: 10/15/12 at 9:01pmIve rushed and I got there at 7am. One person came 2 seconds after. Then one a few minutes after. Then every few minutes someone new came basically until 9am, then everyone started coming to wait on line. The line had about 40 people at 10am. I got front row seats, and I believe about 20+ other people got good orchestra seats too. Id say if youre willing to wait for 3 hours, go at 7, but if not, 8-8:30 is the latest.

Posted: 10/15/12 at 9:33pmI got there around 7:45-8 and was maybe 4th in line, and got second row orchestra seats for me and my friend. But by the time the box office opened the line was insane! Just saying you should probably bring a book. I like to talk to the people around me when I rush, but no one at all spoke English, so I stood there really bored for a couple of hours. But get there early.

Posted: 1/5/13 at 7:09pmHas anyone been recently? My friends and I were going to go next Saturday and rush for the matinee and I was wondering how it's been and when would be a good time to go. Has it picked up more because it's closing soon?

For those interested, I got here today Sat at 8am and there are ten people in front of me.
Eta: the doorman at the Marquis and whoever is in charge of the rush line are complete idiots. I was 11th on line, and then at ten am when he opened the doors, he suddenly lets ahead of all of us 50 people who had been inside the hotel!! Even though they got there at 8:30 and the box office guy said the outside line was the correct one. Total bullshlt!

Posted: 1/12/13 at 10:28amI completely agree! I was the red head who was third in line and luckily I got in with the first group of people but they handled that TERRIBLY. I felt so bad for everyone there.

Ah, you were one of the lucky ones!
I really wanted to complain to a manager or something. Yeah, they are rush seats but that still means you have to follow the rules in selling them. That doorman was a complete dumbass. Basically, all of us (except for 7 or so people who were at the head of our line) who had been on the correct line, were told to get on the end of the inside line, which then caused a whole chaotic free-for-all as those on the very end realized they could run ahead and charge through the doors, instead of going in through an orderly fashion. So we all just wasted 2 hours, as it was no different then if we had just shown up right at 10am. All because of one rude asshole.
I can't believe they don't have this set up better. The show has been running for how long now? You'd think issues like this would have been figured out, oh I don't know, 2 days after first selling rush tickets?
The solution to this could have been really simple too. There were two box office windows open selling rush tickets. He could have easily just had each line use a separate window. Fair to all involved, no crush of people rushing the doors, etc.

Posted: 1/15/13 at 8:02pmI know the show's closing in a little over a week, but how has the rush been on recent weekdays? What time should one get there? Thanks.

Posted: 1/15/13 at 9:03pm8 o'clock seems like plenty of time. Maybe even 8:30. It still isn't as crowded until at least 9.

Posted: 1/17/13 at 12:09amThe week before Xmas I got rush tix at about 4pm. I work days so I can't get there early-might take a stab at rush tickets tomorrow afternoon on the off chance it's a slow rush day. I really want to see this once more before it closes!

Posted: 1/17/13 at 9:31pmI saw Daniel Torres in one of his first performances. He was noticeably nervous a couple of times and messed up a few lines in "Waltz for Eva and Che", but it's possible that people who weren't really familiar with the show may not have noticed. Nonetheless, he was a good vocalist and did a nice job.

I cant speak for recently, but I rushed in mid November, and was 2nd in line at 8:30am. I got orchestra left front row for $38, complete view. It was unbelievable. I think the locations vary. I didnt see anyone else in the rush line near me, so yes, getting their early DOES help.
