Posted: 11/2/11 at 10:00pmThose aren't very generous clips! Sounds great - though - I wish they'd put all that dialogue on separate tracks - Im sure I won't want to listen to Bernadette talk about Houston and Phoenix every time I want to hear her get to the damn song...

Also posted, eight sound clips, one with a particularly fun surprise: a lyric Steve Sondheim re-wrote the day of the recording, between the second and third takes of that particular song. ("I finally figured out the right word after forty years," he was heard to comment.)
Colleen Fitzpatrick sang the new lyric on Sunday. I thought it was a mistake!
Great clips. Congrats Phyllis!

WTF. They reverted to Sally's ORIGINAL monologue to In Buddy's Eyes for the recording! But live, Bernadette is still doing the revised monologue.
Very random.

Posted: 11/2/11 at 10:04pmGood catch ljay...hopefully that means somebody involved wants this to a definitive recording and they ain't all that sure the version of the book being used in this production is all that definitive...

Posted: 11/2/11 at 10:07pmIt's all very random to me, but I'm not complaining. Small changes are still being made to the dialogue in the actual production. Even since the show has opened. I was there on Sunday, and there's new changes since September. Buddy's entrance monologue now completely reflects the original book. Bernadette now says "Oh God, it is tomorrow" at the end. Lots of little changes are still being made.

Posted: 11/2/11 at 10:20pmSteve Sondheim changed it to "pitiful precis" for the album and for all subsiquent versions of the song. Jan flubbed the line the night I saw it (they had just recorded the album) then mentioned it at the stage door.
