FYI, Apparent Change in Jerusalem Rush Policy Today...#1

Hey, just wanted to give people a heads-up on the way this was handled for today's matinee. I'd bought a TDF ticket before they announced a rush policy, and when I went to pick it up around noon, it was a seat in Row E of the mezz. I asked if I could possibly trade it for a front row rush ticket if there were any left, and they said they'd sold them all, which was understandable. HOWEVER, inside I discovered that today the rushees were given box seats--even the first person on the rush line--and instead there were TDF folks in the front row; I was lucky enough to join them there during the first of two intermissions.

I'm too tired to post my opinion of the show, but thought this was worth mentioning as I know people here like to plan these things...and I have to say, that even though I could smell the set (and see a few ants crawling away from it!) the front row was great for this one. But you won't necessarily sit there if you rush the show, apparently.

It was only a matter of time. Rush in that theater is ALWAYS in the boxes.

It wasn't for Lend Me a Tenor...

They did side orchestra.

April: how were the original mezz seats? trying to decide whether to do tdf, tkts, or use a discount code so i can actually choose my seat ...

this show was not in the budget, but i'm inclined to try to see it -- that said, three hours is a long time to endure a sh*tty sightline.

Rush in that theater has always been random for me. For Lend Me a Tenor I sat front row, Superior Donuts last row mezz, and La Bete boxes. Not a particular fan of the boxes.

Thread jack: Anyone know what time people have been getting there for rush? Updated On: 4/7/11 at 12:45 PM

I was thinking of possibly rushing this, but won't if the view from the boxes is terrible, especially, as said above, for a 3+ hour show.

My Lend Me a Tenor rush seats were side, last row mezz. And pretty much the entire mezz was empty.

Hey whatever--My Row E mezz center seat was okay, but for such a long play, and so much dialogue with accents, I couldn't wait to race down and grab a front row seat at intermission. Bear in mind that the show isn't crowded--yet anyway--and with two intermissions, there's plenty of time to scavenge a better view, especially if you're only looking for a single vacant seat. But the theater is relatively intimate and the mezz doesn't feel like another country, at least...hope that helps!

I saw the matinee today and can confirm all rush seats are in the boxes now. The first woman on line this morning ended up with a box, as did everyone else who queued up.

There is a sign on the window of the box office that describes the rush policy. The sentence where it says the seats will be in the front row has been crossed out with a black sharpie.

Anyway, almost everyone in the boxes today upgraded to better seats at the first intermission.

Huh. That's strange. I did rush for the Saturday matinee (the 9th) at around 11:30 and I got Row AA, seat 105. There were people in the box, though...

I did rush last week. My friend was the first person in line and got a box. We were the front row of the box which provided a pretty decent view.

So, that was the Drowsy Chaperone. Oh, I love it so much. I know it's not a perfect show...but it does what a musical is supposed to do. It takes you to another world, and it gives you a little tune to carry with you in your head for when you're feeling blue. Ya know?
