Heidi took the last bow at her last show, so I assume they gave Faith the bow for her first just to welcome her.
I would bet that tonight Sierra gets the last bow as usual.
Well, she looks great in the costume. She looks like (just from her facial expressions and body language) she's found a great balance of the scary and the funny in Ursula. Hope she improves.

All during Heidi's run, Sierra was last bow except for Sunday when she grabbed Heidi and split the last bow with her.
Boyfromoz-
The only reason Heidi took last bow was because Sierra grabbed her and split it with her. It was not planned for her to take the last.

^^aw, that's sweet!
And if Debra Monk were playing Ursula...well, that might tempt me even to sit through the show again. When I said "fierce" above, I didn't necessarily mean that Ursula should be a belter. In fact, since Ariel belts in places, I'd think it would be best for Ursula to have a different style.
Now if Ursula were played by a man in drag it would work for me.

If Lee Roy Reams were in his prime I would've loved for him to do it, if only to make a hilarious evening.
If anyone's supposed to be "fierce" in TLM, it's Ursula. Not Ariel. HEIDI was fiiiiiiiierce. And I'm sure Faith will be too. Sherie... was a drag queen. But certainly not a fierce one.
Can we please give it to Debra Monk next? I miss her since Curtains. She is such a phenomenal actress. I really think she would knock this one out of the park.
Okay don't bash me for this now, but what about Idina as Ursula? Just looking for thoughts.

I wouldn't dare bash you, but I will laugh. Hahahahahahahahahahahahah.
Why are some of you so ready to dismiss Faith in this? One person on this thread said his/her FRIEND didn't like her! No one has actually posted a review after seeing her, correct?
Faith certainly hasn't lost it. Sure her voice has changed a little bit, as all voice do over the years. Did any of you criticizing Faith in Catered Affair actually see the show? She definitely was "fierce" in a restrained way. She acted the s*** out of that role.
She can't, nor shouldn't, belt everything like Adelaide or Lorraine Bixby. The score to ACA was not a brassy, belty score. I plan on seeing her in Mermaid, and if she's not good I'll admit. There is no reason to be claiming that she's lost it though.

I love the Debra Monk idea. I think Mary Testa would be good too.
I think Idina as Ursula would be amazing and it would continue the bizarre cycle of Idina and Sherie sharing roles.

It doesn't matter if Ursula "should" or "shouldn't" be a belter. They've set a precedent, and the songs that Ursula sings have been written for a belter. So whether or not anyone thinks the actress playing her should or should not be a belter...the music dictates.
Personally, I think it would sound bizarre for someone NOT to belt the endings of Poor Unfortunate and Good Times Back, but maybe that's just me.
I hope Faith has a long and excellent run in TLM. Just when she leaves, whenever that may be, I want Debra taking over.
I'm still curious to read a full review of Faith's performance. Anyone seeing her tonight or in the near future?
As I mentioned upthread, I thought her voice was fine in A Catered Affair (her acting was actually quite moving there). I only wish her the best.
Still love to see the role played by a man in drag at some point - and if he can belt, more power to him! :)

I'm ready to finally see the show for the first time, mainly to see Faith Prince. Now, should Harvey Fierstein ever step into the role I'll be more than willing to go see him take Ursula back to her Divine roots.

You'd take any chance you could to make a N&N reference on BroadwayWorld, won't you??
Haha you know me too SWELL, I mean well!

This picture made my day.
Looks like they added makeup since the press release shots back on to her face which I think was smart.
I believe that yes, Ursula IS a belter. They wouldn't give her two reprises to her two songs where she gets to hold the final notes of their predecessors for even LONGER if they didn't want a belter.
Ariel needs to have an extremely pretty and likable voice whereas Ursula can be a show-stopping belter. For instance: Patti LuPone = belter. Her voice is an acquired taste which not everyone is a fan of, but totally appropriate for Ursula (not that she'd ever take such a small role).
As for curtain call, even if they had given Faith final bow for all shows I'd see it as semi-justifiable seeing as she is being billed as TONY WINNER Faith Prince in The Little Mermaid. After the performance Heidi gave last Friday, I'd have accepted her taking final bow as well.

It looks like they went back to the original wig, it looked downsized a little when Heidi was there.
Sherie's was much less curled or made to look like it was underwater. Looks like they just added some more body to the side and some coming down her neck for Faith.

I'm thinking she probably doesn't actually have the last bow but that for the article they changed the order of pictures around, saving Faith's pictures for last. I could be wrong but that's probably it.
as to the wig, remember that they have to build a new one for each actress, I think heidi's seemed "downsized" since it was more than likely her understudy wig.
I saw her as Mrs. Lovett in Sweeney Todd in Orlando in early March and she was AWFUL. Didn't know the lyrics, notes, script, and wasn't funny. And she was what I was looking forward too most....whatever...
Maybe she was learning Ursula instead of Sondheim at the time...??
