Kelli O'Hara and Isaiah Johnson confirmed they are going into the studio on July 12th to record the score. Didn't find out which label, though I imagine it will be PS Classics.

I heard rumors about this being recorded. It's not official yet, but I guess it's a good sign when two of the leads have spoken about it.

Seeing as both Kelli and Stephen are headed into another musical after this, I was thinking that this might be the end of the road for this incarnation of "Far From Heaven", so it would make sense to record it now.

I saw the show tonight and while I thought her performance was incredible and her voice sounded absolutely flawless, I was baffled by the choice to allow her to continue in the project when she was so noticeably, obviously pregnant. The reason I mention it is because the couple behind me was discussing the pregnancy in the context of her character being pregnant, clearly unaware that she was actually pregnant, and if her character was pregnant, that would really, really alter the way the story unfolds and would be perceived. I just wonder if it's wise to assume that every audience would know Kelli enough to know of her pregnancy and understand to suspend disbelief for the sake of the show. It really is a very different arc if Kathy is pregnant, and I imagine it would be very confusing for it to not be addressed.

That being said, I'm glad it will be recorded simply because her voice sounded so lovely and I could really listen to her sing anything.

She was allowed to stay on because she is a remarkable performer. Not many could do what she did so far along in her pregnancy. I personally found it only added to the show, and it don't distract me at all.

Apparently it is NOT PS Classics. Maybe Sh-K-Boom?

I don't care who's recording it, so long as it's recorded. It would have been a travesty to let that beautiful score go unpreserved.

I wonder if her bump had a major growth spurt from the beginning of the run to the end. I remember reports at the beginning of the run talking about how the costume design was extremely well done to hide her pregnancy. I wonder if later in the run it just became near impossible to hide (and maybe they weren’t anticipating her belly getting so big within that time).

Excited there will be a recording of this, since I didn’t get to see it. Do you think they chose to record it because, at this point, a further life for the show doesn’t seem to be in the near future? (As in, if they expected it to run on Broadway any time soon they may wait to record the Broadway cast.)

But presumably you were aware of her pregnancy when you saw the show. I'm wondering how it would affect the perception of someone who assumed the character was pregnant. I never denied how talented she is, that doesn't mean we can't discuss the role and her performance.

As for her bump, as of last night it was very visible and some near me were laughing about it.

Probably because it's illegal to not "allow" her to continue because she's pregnant.

When I see the phrase "the ____ estate", I imagine a vast mansion in the country full of monocled men and high-collared women receiving letters about productions across the country and doing spit-takes at whatever they contain. -Kad

I wasn't suggesting she be fired, but her pregnancy is advanced and was not a surprise. Did they just assume it could be better hidden before the run began or...? I know she's Kelli O'Hara but I react very differently to her storyline if Kathy is with child, as would many.

No, you didn't say she should be fired, but the way you phrased it suggested someone telling her she could not play the role because she's pregnant. Her life isn't in danger in this role, so there's no reason she can't do it. The only alternatives I could think of would be rescheduling the run or canceling it, both undesirable choices.

It's not clear to me how the story would really change if the character were pregnant. As it stands, they have two young children together, who are far from being independent and moving out of the family home.

SPOILER

When it becomes acknowledged that they were never right for each other, Frank leaves and moves in with someone else, despite there being young children at home. So he is already abandoning his wife and children to start living a more honest life. Would it really make that much of a difference if there were 3 children rather than 2? (Or 2.7, or however you count one on the way.)

If the character of Cathy is pregnant it does change things. Not for better or for worse. I think like real life, pregnancy changes how someone feels, how someone is viewed and how one would react to certain emotional things in ones life. Everything single thing happening on the stage technically changes the universe they are creating for the actors and for the people observing.

Interesting side note is that Julianne Moore was pregnant at the end of filming with her second child when she gave her brilliant performance in the film. You can see a slight bump in the final scenes actually.

It's becoming a bit of a trend for me. I saw her in SOUTH PACIFIC during her last week before pregnancy leave (she was no longer doing the cartwheel), and boy, was she showing. That really must have been "some enchanted evening."

I'm not really big into musicals but I LOVED THIS SHOW! So glad it is getting a recording and don't understand the critical dismissal. Hope it lives on!

What's the song used in the majority of this trailer? It's absolutely exquisite. Is it representative of the whole score or is this one of those all too frequent occurrences of a tantalizingly lovely song or two in an otherwise forgettable score? Looking forward to hearing for myself when the recording is released, but I'm just wondering if those who didn't care for the score actually liked this song or not. Will help me gage whether or not I can trust your reviews.

The song in the trailer (The Only One) was definitely my favorite one in the show - very beautiful melody and relatable lyrics. There are some other nice songs in the show also, though that one is the only one that i remembered well enough to sing afterward.

Miro was my fave. Can't wait to hear the recording. Maybe Cathy just put on weight and wondered if thats why her husband wasn't as into her. She didn't have to be preggers.
