Just got back from the final show - and what a great way to end.
First, it started with a huge standing ovation applause when Cheyenne came out to which eventually fell over on his side in the middle of the stage and had the biggest grin on his face. Then, he said "this is going to be a great afternoon" and started the show. Everyone, of course, got huge entrance applauses.
Fun things that happened:
- Jackie's ad lib was several minutes and including acting out the final scene of West Side Story (as Maria says how many bullets in this gun) and singing "somewhere" while on her knees clutching onto Cheyenne's legs.
- There was one line near the beginning that Mary said super-slowly, and she started laughing and Jackie looked at her watch like "We're going to take our time getting through this tonight."
- Mary said all of her short and fast lines including Les Mis, Equus, Spring Awakening, Gypsy, and ... I'm forgetting one here.
- Jackie came out to dance on the side of the stage during "all over the world." I think just 'cause it's so fun.
- Mary stomped off-stage at one point when Jackie was hamming it up.
- When Cheyenne asks if "anyone is there" after the giggling and cackling, Jackie said "no, that's why we're closing." (huge applause) To which Cheyenne replied, "just some over-acting, scene stealing, giggling and cackling mice."
Cheyenne gave a final speech and thanked Douglas Carter Beane (who was in the 4th row) and the producers (who were in the back). And Xanadu alumi and swings including Curtis Holbrook joined the cast onstage for a reprise of "xanadu."
That's all I can remember right now. And I also saw Cubby Bernstein and Max von Esson in the audience.
