I was just wondering, what do you guys think would happen to Legally Blonde after LBB gets replaced by the new girl and if the show doesnt do well? Will it close?
Uhh, no, it will stay open? :S
Yeah, if the show does poorly, it will close. No matter what

interesting question.. I hope not because I really do like the show. But MTV will probably try one last attempt at getting people in the seats, but if it doesn't do well once the new girl begins they might have to because it would only do worse in the months following summer save for thanksgiving maybe. But Grease I think is still riding on the wave of "You're the One that I Want" (I haven't seen the show so I'm not positive) and its grosses aren't terrible. So maybe LB will be the same way.
I have a feeling LEGALLY BLONDE won't make it through another winter...
I doubt the show will do much for it. It'll probably do considerably better in the summer months and then experience a sharp jump for about a month after the show on MTV and then it'll be gone.

As long as Kate Shindle is in the show, it should stay open.
If it closes while she's still in the show, I'll be sooo upset.

My friend's taking us to see Legally Blonde for her Sweet 16.
Sad, I was expecting something better...
I think that part of Grease's success is the fact that its GREASE, everyone knows it, so lots of non-theatre-goers see it too. Not that way with LB, though
I agree with what has been said about Grease. People who aren't theatre goers know the show and thus will see it.
I doubt Blonde will last much longer with or without the reality show.
I think that airing the show on MTV had a bit of a backfire effect. That there were people who didn't see the show or get tickets because it is on their tivo and they wouldn't want to spend a ton of money to see a Broadway show when they can watch it at home for free whenever they want.
But you see, I don't know what the chances are, but if this show lasts then we'll look like fools in a year.
I'm just gonna say that time will tell. And so will the fans.
How much impact do you really think Kate Shindle has on Legally Blonde?

She's my favorite performer on Broadway right now, so I can dream. can't I? =]
The show is making half a mil every week at this point! Why close the show when it would be much more financially viable to move it from the cavernous Palace where half a mil a week fills barely two-thirds of the seats and put it in a smaller theater with a more intimate setting where the comedy can work better?
Robert- did you neglect the set which probably wouldn't fit in a smaller theater considering the palace IS one of the biggest theaters on broadway?
Aside from the color arches and the opening fraternity house set, is there really anything else that would have to be reconstructed to fit the smaller set? Not the dorm room, the classroom, the courtroom or the graduation chamber...they could just use half of the set of the salon since the other half was pretty much wasted anyway...
Im sure the set would fit elsewhere, we are getting the same set here in th UK and the theaters its looking at here are not the big ones
Yeah, Legally Blonde isn't a giant-sized show like some of the more recent shows that have played the Palace (B&TB and Aida). The interior and exterior of the sorority house are really the only large set pieces. The entire set could easily fit in another theatre.
That being said, I seriously doubt that they would change theatres. The producers will probably just close it when it stops becoming profitable in the Palace, rather than spend even more money to move everything to another theatre.
Is this show still open? Wow.
The new girl will come in just in time for it to close.
The tour will do well.
I have to agree. I don't think the winner will be able to boost and sustain the show's box office for very long. I think it's a mistake to use the show to cast the Elle for the Broadway production; the new Elle should go into the tour so that audiences across the country will be able to see the girl they've been following on TV.
i think it will still be open still off peak season for broadway the summer is coming and plus its like the other thread on here about spring awakening closing. i do agree they should put it into a smaller theatre. hopefully the new girl is really good and has great comedic timing, still think becky should have replaced laura.

She only has something like a 2 or 4 week contract to be renewed only if she does very well. I'm sure they have someone else waiting in the wings if she crashes and burns.
If you watch the video about backstage at "Legally Blonde", you'd see that the show has been built right into the theater so massively (that lift couldn't be moved for less that half a million I bet.)
What is even more amazing about the show is the built-in hatred on this site from the same people, over and over again who post negative comments about "Legally Blonde."
You know, it's getting so old and so tired.
I and a small group of people are raising money for two Broadway productions and I have to say that sometimes, coming here - something I used to love to do - is getting painful.
I wonder what the casts of shows must feel when a site called Broadwayworld revels in production deathwatches. This type of **** is more appropriate for Perez Hilton or The New York Post.
I haven't even suggested to our investors that they visit Broadwayworld.com recently because what should be the ultimate pro-Broadway site is starting to become dominated by a small group of very unhappy people who use this site to vent their spleen and assuage the anger, bitterness and disappointment they must be feeling in life on this show and Laura Bell Bundy in particular.
If you're gonna be bitchy, can't you possibly be more creative about it?

I for one love this show and watched it when it was on MTV and thought it was phenomenal.
It's most likely recouped (not positive, but think so), and I'm sure the Producers/Creators are happy with the show's success. The shows had a fair run, and if it closes so what?
If it closes, fine. If we let twenty people hijck this site to continually dance on its grave, the less for us.
