When I saw the title of this thread I immediately thought of CITY OF ANGELS so I am so glad to see it is included in other contributions.

I love exit music.

Whenever I see a musical I always wait till the exit music is over. Then I leave.

I love Tick Tick Boom's exit music.

The only exit music that stands out in my mind is that of Caroline, or Change. It was sort of a rocked out version of Lot's Wife. I loved it!

plus, since it has not played NYC, many will not have heard it, but WHITE CHRISTMAS had people dancing in the aisles as they went out and lots of applause as it ended.

I'll toss my vote for Carrie. Pretty much every song worth remembering from that show made it into the exit music.

I also like the play out to Ken Hill's "Phantom of the Opera." I wish that show would end with that instead of that HORRIBLE "He Will Not Go Without a Friend" grand-opera thing. If that show ever gets another professional production, I hope they rework the ending.

I got another one!

The exit music to "SHREK: The Musical."
I liked the original that had "Freak Flag," but the current playout really threw me for a loop (in a good way)! That may probably be the first time that the exit music was something NOT from the show!

In case you're wondering, the exit music was "I'm a Believer."

The exit music to GYPSY, of course. The Barnes and Noble edition of the current GYPSY recording includes both the Entr'acte and the Exit Music, the latter being the first time for a recording, I believe. Im not sure that Sid Ramin and Robert Ginzler did all of the orchestrations for the exit music. I have the complete piano vocal score to Gypsy and the ending is different from what is on the recording. Perhaps Jonathan Tunick did the ending, since he orchestrated the bonus tracks of the deleted songs from the show.

I love the great jazz-waltz version of "Last Midnight" used in INTO THE WOODS.

And, of course, CITY OF ANGELS.

And for simplicity, THE FANTASTICKS, in which the Overture is represed for the bows, then segues to "Try to Remember" and "Soon It's Gonna Rain" for exit music.

I'm glad so many posters mention CITY OF ANGELS . I've never seen so many people stop leaving the theater as they did when THAT exit music played. Why don't we have a revival of that. A least an Encores production

City of Angels would take quite a bit of ingenuity to present in concert form, given the black and white and color setting, costume and lighting concept. Still, that script and score are very strong and I'd be interested to see it again.

Incidentally, the exit music in City of Angels is most likely the work of its orchestrator, the late great Billy Byers.

Ragtime had the best music, overture, entr'act, bows, exit. Ugh I just love everything about that show.

I subbed in that show for a performance, without any read-through of my part (I played the harp on synthesizer), and I followed along with the orchestra with where I was supposed to go, even though I wasn't reminded of it before-hand. Because I was listening to all they were playing, which was so captivating and exciting that sometimes I forgot what I was doing.

Still "Two Gentlemen of Verona." Just a great night of theater and Raul Julia (and somewhere in there, Stockard Channing, BTW) and a night to remember at the St. James. That place rocked.

I don't think anything can beat HAIR at the Delacorte's exit music. The cast and audience dancing onstage to LET THE SUNSHINE IN...I still could hear the music playing halfway out of the park.

'City Of Angels' just doesn't want you to leave the theatre especially on the London recording.
