"Defintly the revival of Gypsy..... stunning hello the puruple Moma Rose Dress = Life........."
Agreed
"INTO THE WOODS original costumes are awesome."
Those costumes could have been less drab, cheap looking, and unoriginal.

My personal favorite is the Sweeney Todd revival minimalist costumes. Johanna's dress is so perfect for her. It’s like a white recital dress (very appropriate for the production), and Patti Lupone's Mrs. Lovett In Fishnets (sparkly in the second act) LOVE IT!! Minimalist sheik is very in.

I love the "Hard to Say Goodbye My Love" dresses in Dreamgirls.

Was there ever anything better than "The Ascot Gavotte" number or the Embassy Ball piece from "My Fair Lady"? Cecil Beaton WAS the ultimate costume designer- he could make a dressmaker's dummy look like a fashion plate!

My Fair Lady - Ascot Gavotte
Wicked - I admit it they are amazing
Gregg Barnes - I Second this.

I actually HATE Willaim Ivey Long, Cabaret and Chicago looked alike to me, and Hairspray and La Cage were also way to similar. GET SOME NEW IDEAS LONG!

The light in the piazza. All of Clara's dresses aren't just pretty, they are perfect. Franca's dresses are perfect too.

The Scarlet Pimpernel had gorgeous costumes as well.

Cabaret and Pacific Overtures Revival were also good.

re: Favorite Costume Design

I will have to agree with all of the Wicked comments. Susan Hilferty knows what she is doing! (Recreating the look for a personal costume is daunting!)

re: Favorite Costume Design

Some of you keep saying that the original black dress in Wicked (I assume you mean the movie) was boring?

I guess you haven't really looked at it. It has quite a bit of fantastic detailing on it.

re: Favorite Costume Design

yes yes, i agree wicked is fantastic.
AIDA's costumes are also amazing. they must've taken forever! sooooo beautiful!

also, i really loved the costumes from THE LIGHT IN THE PIAZZA, they are perfect. fitting right to the era and location, i don't think people appreciate that because they're not really over-the-top and theatrical like some costumes for shows, but they really capture the ideas of the show and the time period, helping you to be there with the actors.

looooove costumes <3
hear my song; it was made for the time when you don't know where to go, listen to the song that i sing, you'll be fine..
