Favorite Plays you've Read

I have three.

The fist one is obviously Angels in America. As we all know it is deeply moving and honestly, it was one the best things I've ever read.

The Second is August Osage County. This read like a book more then a play. I Didn't catch it on Broadway and I'm kicking myself for blowing it off.

The third one is Noises Off. Read it flying home from the UK and the time flew by in a hilarious fashion.

Which one's are your favorites?

Doubt comes to mind first.

I'm really curious if anyone says The Iceman Cometh. I just read it last weekend strictly because Denzel is going to be the Iceman this spring. I also watched the FOUR HOUR LONG MOVIE on BroadwayHD and man.... snooze.

Having enjoyed Tennessee Williams' play SUMMER AND SMOKE, I found it especially interesting reading his later reworked version of the same play titled ECCENTRICITIES OF A NIGHTINGALE. It eliminated most of the supporting characters from the original (making it much less melodramatic) and centered mainly on Alma, John and family members. It was also much more poetic in nature.

I'll be honest and say straight plays aren't my niche. I have absolutely nothing against them, but I've always been a music lover first and foremost, so my straight play knowledge is lacking. That aside, of the ones in my working knowledge, I Never Saw Another Butterfly has been one of, if not my top favorite, since I was in it many years ago and I've always wanted to do it again, but it's hardly ever done. I discovered over the years that work of any kind whether it's film, theatre, etc. that surrounds the Holocaust in some way or explore human depravity in general, tend to be on the top of my list.
