Carolee Carmello in Urinetown- she should have been the original Miss Pennywise if you ask me.
Tom Cavanagh in Urinetown- while he wasn't as good as hunter, I thoroughly enjoyed his performance and I really didn't think I would.
Jennifer Laura Thompson in Wicked- absolutely wonderful
Brent Barrett in Chicago- the man is stunning in every way
Charlotte d'Amboise in Chicago- she will always be my Roxie
Ruthie Henshall in Chicago- she will always be my Velma
Danny Gurwin in The Full Monty- Just fantastic. I loved him so much in that show.

But- Amy Spanger in Urinetown!?!? I can't even fathom how people thought she was good. Her voice sounded awful, she played Hope like she was a sk@nk. Of all the Urinetown replacements she may have been the worst.

And hang on, when did you win the discus?

Right you are Erna, right you are.

Jen in Wicked was a peice of magic. Nothing in the world would have made me go see that smoking pile of dung again, except her being in it. Thanks Jen.

bit of wicked mania here, but it's a conincedince they're both in the same show i swear!!

JLT - As Glinda (she was just gorgeous)

and definitely shoshana as elphaba (she brings a unique power to the role)

"...But Kungurtseva reels off multiple fouettes and the tape is stopped so she can take a bow. The Jester, an abomination introduced to Swan Lake in Soviet times, extorts applause from the audience. The cuts don't help the storytelling, the production is bare bones and they go for the '50s-style happy ending. The audience cheers like mad at the end. It's the Russian ballet, after all..."

Props to overthemoon... I was WAITING for someone to bring up Terrence Mann! He was freakin amazing! Jason Wooten made a great eddie/dr. scott too. Pissed that I missed Raul and Tom though... PS: Damn Sebastian Bach to hell... may he never be on Broadway again.

Other good replacements?

Kathy Brier-Hairspray
Harvey Fierstein-Fiddler
Roger Bart-The Frogs
Robert Goulet-La Cage Aux Folles

Honorable Mention: Brad Oscar-The Producers

I enjoyed Rex Smith and Rachel York in THE SCARLET PIMPERNEL more than their predecessors. I will second Vanessa Williams in SPIDERWOMAN--but add Brian Stokes Mitchell in SPIDERWOMAN to the list.
