EastWickian -- Go see Hairspray. Now. I guarantee you'll completly change your mind about "Timeless To Me" once you see it performed onstage.

Hey everyone, I'm new here and figured this would be a good way to get myself into the groove. There are very few showtunes that I can't stand to listen to. Here is a short list:
"Steam Train" -- Songs For A New World "March of the Falsettos" -- March of the Falsettos (my favorite show ever, yet I can't bring myself to sit through that song more than once a year...) "What A Waste" -- Miss Saigon (I have both the London AND Symphonic recordings. "What A Waste" is much more interesting on the Symphonic recording, when it has the whole John section added)
I realized while trying to think of songs I don't like from musicals I love that I tend to find something redeeming in most songs, be it a lyric or a meaning or a melody of some sort. I'll try to think of more.....
Cabaret- So What (known to my friends as I as the bathroom song) Chicago- Little Bit of Good I can't think of an annoying song from my others though. I suppose that's good!
"a sentimental man" wicked "safe in the city" taboo (the ONLY song on that album i can't listen to) the whole first act of The Boy From Oz.. and Beth Fowler's version of "Don't Cry Out Loud" makes me cry because it's so horrendous.
"It's not for sissies, contrary to popular belief." - Tommy Tune, on musical theatre.
Janki - I didn't mind Loose Ends in the show when I saw it, but Eye of the Beholder could be a much better song. The other two women get such great songs for their seduction with Darryl, but Eye of the Beholder was extremely dull on stage.
"What can you expect from a bunch of seitan worshippers?" - Reginald Tresilian
That's too funny! I was just going to post that I'm a bigger fan of the man singing it than a woman.
"Noah, someday we'll talk again. But there's things we'll never say. That sorrow deep inside you. It inside me, too. And it never go away. You be okay. You'll learn how to lose things..."
I LOVE anything from Urinetown and anything from Avenue Q..."I'm not wearing underwear today" is NOT meant to be taken seriously. And the dialogue at the end is hilarious. It's only 30 seconds long anyway, so I don't see why it matters...Oh, and "Schadenfreude" is one of my favorite songs. Not that you care. Moving on...
One song I really dislike is "Hard work" from Fame. I don't really like the show anyway, but this song is corny and annoys me...
the boy from oz was not a bad SHOW, it had a bad CAST except for hugh jackman. i enjoyed it because hugh saved it with his versions of "i go to rio" and "once before i go". also, jarrod emick with his mind-blowing version of "i honestly love you". jarrod and hugh are wonderful.
i also realized a few more songs that give me the willies.. "that dirty old man" from A Funny Thing..Forum. i was domina in a recent production and i hated having to sing that song every night. tom hewitt's versions of "i'm going home", "sweet transvestite", "i can make you a man", etc, from Rocky Horror. "we're okay" from Rent "in my life" and "a heart full of love" from Les Miz because i can't stomach some of the notes cosette hits "how lovely to be a woman" from Bye Bye Birdie
