Groff's name shouldn't appear here at all...he's been deemed leading, not featured.
Who's mentioning Groff in the first place?
Read, darling, read.
Munky:

Wait, Borle is featured? I'm not sure if this changes my position. Probably not, but... I'll think about it.
thanks Munk
But I believe Hadley will be in Lead
am i wrong?

Don't take what I said as gospel...no rulings have been made on shows that haven't opened yet.
My names for shows to come are just pure speculation.
Kinda surprised to see Norm Lewis as Featured. Wasn't Terrence Mann considered Leading for the original production? Not that Norm will be nominated, but still...
ah
OK
I would add William Youmans in
THE PIRATE QUEEN
I thought they'd judged that Norm would be considered for Lead?
I would love Jason Danieley to take this one. But the only thing I'm sure of right now is that John Gallagher Jr will be nominated (and that's not 100% sure).
EDIT: Lead, not Featured. I fail. XP

I saw "Spring Awakening" last week and maybe I'm still blinded by how much I loved it and how nice the cast was at the stage door, but I felt like telling John Gallagher to start preparing acceptance speeches or at least how to accept nomination certificates gracefully. Yes, I think he was that good and while I love the rest of the cast, you can't take your eyes off John.
I do agree, though, that next to John, Jonathan Wright is the most galvanizing presence, especially in the seduction scene--even though all I could think of for a while is they've found their Rolf if they ever revive "The Sound of Music."
Not that anyone cares, but I've seen more potential nominees than any season in a long long time, so here's my predictions:
Musical: Spring Awakening
Actor: Raul Esparza
Actress; Christine Ebersole
Featured Actor: John Gallagher Jr
Featured Actress: Mary Louise Wilson
Featured Actor Joined: 7/13/06
Now that I've seen all of the shows (aside from Legally Blonde, which I'll try to see soon after it starts previewing), I'll put in my two cents. This is based on both what I want to happen and what I think will happen:
I'm thinking:
Aaron Lazar
Jeff McCarthy
Marcus Chait
John McMartin
John Gallagher Jr.
Munkustrap- You have Hadley in Featured when I'm sure he'll be in Lead, and you left out Marcus, who certainly should be on that list. Also, I haven't seen the show yet (maybe you did in San Francisco?) but is Christian Borle's part lead or featured?

QB - You're too kind adding in Lazar.

I understand he misses a lot of shows, but he's good when he's there, no?
I'd assume he'll show up when he knows the voters are there. Maybe?

I would also say you forgot Edward Hibbert or Jason Daniely, who both have a very good chance of being nominated.

It doesn't have to do with his attendance record, it has to do with the fact that he's bloody dull, (like the rest of the cast, IMO.)
The fact that he's leaving before the deadline doesn't bode well in his favor, either.

wonderfulwizard-
Edward Hibbert was close to making my list. And after some minor swaying from Yankeefan here, I might have to give him the Lazar spot. But for my money, Hibberts performance was so predictable. He is always charming and cute and solid and good. But, and I've said this before when discussing Tony Nomination Worthy Performances, there was nothing special about it that jumped off the stage for me. McMartin I think will get the nomination based on respect in the community (which doesn't mean I think that is right, I just think it might happen). Gallagher will obivoulsy get nominated because of the Spring Awakening buzz (even though I don't totally get it). And I went with Lazar, more than anything, because I really like that role and thought he sang it well (and the actor who originated it won, didn't he?). And McCarthy and Chait, I think both give really interesting performaces in a show that I have come to think depends on the actors bringing something special to the stage, rather than just doing their regular "schtick", whatever that may be.
I'm not one to come on here and say "I'm right". This is just how I'm thinking.
Today.
You see how easily I'm swayed! Thanks Yankee. I think I need to check in with my therapist on that. lol

My speculations would be:
John Cullum
Jason Danieley
Edward Hibbert
John Gallagher Jr.
John McMartin
I think McMartin will win. He's been nominated 5 times and has never won; this could be a sort-of cumulative award for him.
Jason Tam was amazing in a Chorus Line and should be nominated.
I agree with yankeefan that John McMartin should be nominated for "Grey Gardens." And definitely not Brooks Ashmanskas. "Fame Becomes Me" was awful. Sorry.

Everyone who complains about how long McMartin is on stage should remember how long Adriane Lenox was on stage in DOUBT.
