My colleague asked if I knew any good all female group musical theatre numbers and I thought we're better to find answers than on Broadway World. Any ideas?
-"Stepsisters' Lament" (Cinderella)
-Definitely a few in South Pacific
-"Maria" (the Sound of Music)
-"Cell block tango" (Chicago)
-"It's the Hard-Knock Life" (Annie)

"Hey Big Spender" - Sweet Charity
"Forget About the Boy" - Thoroughly Modern Millie
"Just Arrived" - Copacabana
"Mama Who Bore Me + Reprise" - Spring Awakening
"Cinderella Darling" from How to Succeed
"Motherhood" from Hello, Dolly!
"Cell Block Tango" from Chicago
"Soft Place to Land" from Waitress
I don't know how your friend will use the song(s), so these might not be appropriate, but I love the ensemble pieces from SISTER ACT:
Raise Your Voice / Take Me to Heaven / Sunday Morning Fever / Spread the Love Around

Oh, and Fabulous Baby does not have religious themes like the others, thought it's more of a solo for Deloris with backing vocals. It could be redone as a group song though.

It Can't Be True- 13
Lots of things from A My Name Is Alice and A My Name Is Still Alice ("All Girl Band" is great)

Nine has a number of them: the Overture, The Germans at the Spa, Folies Bergeres, and Ti Voglia Bene/Be Italian (Young Guido and the boys can easily be covered by women for this, especially as an out of context performance).
If you're interested in something contemporary and funny, "The Smartphone Hour (Rich Set a Fire)" from Be More Chill.

Some that come to mind for me are:
"Mama Who Bore Me Reprise" - Spring Awakening
Virtually anything from six (yes, they are solos, but there's a lot of back-up participation)
"Cell Block Tango" - Chicago
"Mama, I'm a Big Girl Now" and "Welcome to the Sixties" - Hairspray
"Positive" and "What You Want" - Legally Blonde
"Raise Your Voice" - Sister Act
"The Schuyler Sisters" - Hamilton
"Candy Store" - Heathers
"Super Trouper" - Mamma Mia
"Wash that Man Right Out of My Hair" - South Pacific
"Lady Marmalade" - Moulin Rouge
"Many a New Day" - Oklahoma
"Maria" - Sound of Music
And of course, there's like a million others that I'm forgetting right now!

Don't know for what purpose, but here are some that weren't mentioned:
Burn the Old Thing Up - Lizzie
I Want It All - Baby
Matchmaker - Fiddler
The Factory Girls - Parade
Moon Trio - Caroline Or Change
Personally, I am fond of the Hot Box numbers from GUYS AND DOLLS: "A Bushel and a Peck" and "Take Back Your Mink." Each has one chorus for the lead (Adelaide) and then a second chorus for the women's ensemble (but you could arrange the songs differently).
If you want something more serious in tone, either "Every Day a Little Death" or "Perpetual Anticipation" from A LITTLE NIGHT MUSIC might work.
I also like "I'm Not at All in Love" from PAJAMA GAME and "Put 'Em Back" from LIL ABNER.
If you want something more off-beat, take a listen to "Moon in My Window" from DO I HEAR A WALTZ? It's a trio in the show, but there's no reason each "part" couldn't be sung by a different group of women.
