Looking at the current weekly Broadway schedule only 7 of 22 shows have Wednesday matinees. Isn't that a really low percentage? Any thoughts?
Also A Beautiful Noise is doing a Wednesday matinee but no evening show, when has that happen before?

13 shows look like they have two shows on Sundays, which is unusually high. It's likely just temporary.

Both Doll's House and Bad Cinderella have Wednesday matinees once they either get further into previews or open. Shows often won't do Wednesday matinees during the first few weeks of previews as they want to be able to have Wednesday afternoons to rehearse, so that's not atypical.
As for the others, I think we're seeing a trend of theatre owners recognizing that having two shows on Sunday is far more profitable than having two on Wednesday. So I suspect we'll continue to see more and more of this and wouldn't at all be surprised if Wednesday matinees are pretty much a thing of the past a decade from now.

I think this is just the weird Presidents' Day weekend schedule. &Juliet, for example, usually has a Wednesday matinee, but they're doubling up on the Sunday to catch more tourist eyeballs.

It is no secret that the demographic of Wednesday matinees is the least likely to be attending the theatre at all post-pandemic. So it is not that surprising to me that the baseline is now lower. That plus the other things mentioned.

Just February 19th (maybe because the next day, President's Day is a holiday?)
It was like that too before MLK day.

This week and next week shows are altering their schedules for the President's Day holiday. New York City doesn't have school next week, too.

Since I binged out on TAKE ME OUT, I noticed it was always avalable on TDF for Wednesday matinees but ehen I got to the theater on those days, I found the orchestra was pretty much filled but was missing a key element: the shopping bag ladies. You know who I'm talking about--the well-dressed women who arrive just before curtain time on matinee days with shopping bags from Saks 5th Ave or Macy's. They also have a hint of a mixed drink on their breath as they walk past you.
Are we losing this part of the audience or was this only because of TAKE ME OUT's content?
