Filming Bright Star 06/21?

Curious to know! They filmed their Lincoln Center archival show a long while ago.

They do. It's behind the last row of the mezzanine.

Looked professional to me. Here's a photo taken during intermission. He was in center mezz a few rows up. If that's how bootleg folks get their videos, then I have no idea why no usher stopped him.

Maybe Steve Martin wanted a professional copy for himself as it is his show. It has to be professional or the bag checkers were incredibly lax.

who archives it? The NY public library? Does the public have access to these archives after a number of years? Do they film (for archival purposes) all Broadway shows?

How do we know it wasn't the LCT Archives returning to re-film it? Perhaps there was some technical or logistical issue with the previous recording, assuming that TFMH's information is actually true. Your description and corresponding picture would fit this perfectly, as I've been present a number of other times the LCT Archives are present and filming. They're usually filming from the back of the orchestra but this isn't unheard of either.

Thank you for the information to clear that up. Perhaps it will be footage to be used at a later time for a retrospective, documentary or news feature.

I think they record pretty much everything, including Encores! and such. They are available per request, and you need to provide a reason why you want to view a certain show, e.g. musical theater students or journalists doing research. However, when I went recently I found they were pretty chill, at least on that occasion. I filled out the paperwork, and nobody asked any questions and I didn't need to provide proof for my research reason. You do need to have a library card (although nobody checked in my case)

However, you can only watch them at the Library in their TV room, on pretty old monitors (ok quality) and with headphones.

If you go on the library website you can read all the rules and regulations in detail also check the catalogue. It's pretty amazing. I would like to lock myself in their for a week and just watch all the old shows!
