First, sorry for my bad english, I'm not speak english, I speak spanish.
Second............I LOVE the musical but Beauty and the beast is better than mermaid.
A star is borning...SIERRA, she is so lovely and she acts really good.
Scott is another master, her performance is excellet.
The music (song and instrumental) is delicious, Menken is a God. All new songs are incredibles, If Only is, perhaps, the best (altough "One step closer" is very sweet)
The costumes are pretty, much better than Denver version.
I thinks is a GOOD MUSICAL, not the best Disney musical but really funny and beautiful.
And Sean is so hot...........
The final scene could be more impresionant, but well, is good too.
I recommend the musical, if you like Disney, you will love this spectacle.

Wasn't really my kind of musical, i found it pretty weak and kinda dull..But im glad you had a great time, and don't worry about your English it was fine Xx
first, thanks for your thoughts on LM and I'm glad you enjoyed it.
However, I brought my kids to see it on 2/19 and couldn't disagree more. I was bored. My 7 yo son was bored. My 11 yo dd was, however, entranced -- but as a side note, she is not unbiased as she played Ariel in a summer production.
I can't say I was actually looking forward to it: but I did have SOME expectations of being at least entertained.
I thought the costumes were inconsistent...some were beautiful and others looked community theaterish...like Flounder. And can we talk about mermaid erections? I thought the sets were totally overdone: just because we CAN doesn't mean we SHOULD. It was visual vomit and distracted from the story that was being told...as weak as it is.
I was also dissappointed in the choreography AND the blocking. Is that really the MOST you could do with Sherrie Rene Scott? Really? Blah.
Actors: were 'fine' but rather two dimensional: I know this is LM...but sheesh: 75% of the audience were ADULTS...and even kids deserved more.
As I looked around the theater in my bored stupor (I do enjoy watching my kids watch a b'way show) I saw many, MANY bored children...and yet: The show rec'd the obligatory standing ovation. (Except from my son and I...we adamantly stayed seated) I hate standing ovations....they mean nothing.
Side note: the next night we all took in Off B'way's JUMP. THAT was entertaining. (not thought provoking, but thoroughly a hoot.
That being said: I wouldn't recommend LM to anyone. Really. (And of course, it will probably play for years...ugh.)
Beauty and the beast, Mary Poppins, Lion King........aren´t broadway musicals for children...
And Little Mermaid (although it is animated movie) isn´t broadway musical for children too.
I think it is for ADULTS
Yes, they are. And there is nothing wrong with that. I love that I'm able to expose my children to age appropriate theater while they are young.
Mary Poppins and Lion King were both smart enough productions to be sure to entertain the adults AS WELL as children. And my whole family LOVED both of them.
If I thought for a second that LM was MEANT specifically for adults I'd be even MORE dissappointed in it.
Glad you enjoyed the show!
dramamama- How did your son like JUMP? MY brother is the same age and I was thinking of taking him.
Sounds like you had a great time!
dramamama- How did your son like JUMP? MY brother is the same age and I was thinking of taking him.
He loved it. We all did. I don't remember ALL of us laughing so hard as someithg together. He does martial arts...but I don't think that had a lot to do with it.
The audience had about 25% kids ranging from about 5 or 6 to teenagers...all seemed to have a great time. (there was even a sullen 13 yo with his grandmother next to us: he broke down and had a great time.)
REPEAT, it's not the best musical (Disney have another musicals more interesting), but it's really enjoyable.
When I went o see Beauty and the Beast, all children were boring because this musicals, althought are Disney musicals, ARE NOT FOR CHILDREN.
Disney musicals ARE aimed at families which of course include young children. They expect kids to see an advert for Beauty and the Beast etc and them to beg their parents to see it on stage.
Emmadny: I am not telling you that your opinion is WRONG...only that my opinion is different.
But I do disagree with you that they are not meant for children. The best thing I can say about the whole Disney Does Broadway extravaganza: if they only make 10% of the kids that see their show turn on to live theater they have more than done their job. (that even stands true of the HighSchoolMusical hoopla) Good for them...I will always applaud their efforts on that regard.
MY kids have been seeing plays/musicals since they were very young (as I am a director) Professioanlly, they have seen Lion King, Mary Poppins, Peter Pan, Tarzan, Beauty and the Beast on B'way. They have only been "bored" at shows that were not intersting. They were riveted to Mary Poppins, Peter Pan, Lion King and Beauty and the Beast. THey had mixed feelings on Tarzan and LM.
I wouldn't take them to things that were not age appropriate. MANY people bring children to things even if the kids are not ready for it. I even waited to see Lion King myself so that my kids would be OLD enough to appreciate the more mature telling of the story.
I just got tickets to this show for my Spring Break trip to NYC.
I got pretty good seat and am really looking forward to it.
My feeling is as long as Sheri Rene performs I will be happy and get my moneys worth.
Btw, glad you enjoyed it!
Sherie is really really great
And Sierra too....
ALL CAST are incredible, I think they and the music are the best of the show
I saw the Little Mermaid last night and I loved it. I felt like I was 5 years old again! And seeing all the little girls around me smile and gasp when Sierra first came out as Ariel was possibly the cutest thing ever
I completely agree with you. I saw the second performance of The Little Mermaid and ultimately thought that the cast was stunning, and although the technical elements of the show WERE a bit week, I think it was a result of too few rehearsals for the actors with their costumes. HOWEVER, my one complaint about the show --- those skates drove me crazy. At the end of every number when they lived up their toes to get off stage it COMPLETELY ruined the moment for me.
But skates aside --- I thought it was really well done.
drama, I'm not sure I understand your "mermaid erections" statement...
Yeah, I'd really like to see it on my April trip! :) Yeah, I'm a sucker for a spectacle show! The OBC, and I've never seen a show with the original cast....Also, for a person leaning English, I think you're doing very well. I'm just starting to take French classes, and there's NO WAY I could do what you did.
Um...mermaid erections?
"it good sho. reel smart sho for smart peeple. no for ked for audults. john n james good in sho."
In English: It is a good show. It is a really smart show for smart people. It is not for kids, but for adults. John (Treacy Egan?) and James (?) are good in the show.
And also Emma, you're English is "muy bueno!" I'm taking Spanish and it can be difficult to speak a second language, but you actually speak english very well!
BRAVE, jajajajja, thanks.
Tu español es muy bueno también.
I learned english in my school and I remeber a bit it.
But I can´t explain more better´, it's sad...
Finally, LITTLE MERMAID is enjoyable, it's a good musical, It could be better because the film is glorious, but I liked the show.
Trato de preguntar en espanol, para diviertete. Porque crees que musicals de Disney son para adultos?
Tambien, tu ingles es bueno. Yo solo puedo esperar que sere como bueno con mi espanol algun dia!

Mermaid erections explanation:
I just felt the tail stuck so far out all the time..they just reminded my of erections. Perky and dying for attention.
I understand the difficulty in designing the costume to be functional yet mermaid-y...but I found it annoying. The mermaids are almost always standing so its always obvious. When Ariel is lying on her tummy once or twice the effect works beautifully THEN.
The funnier part of the mermaid erection bit: King Tritons tale is nowhere near as um...perky as the girls. His just graces the floor. Don't know why they didn't take that route with all of them.
VERY GOOD, CAIT.
When I saw Beauty and the beast, there was only 5 kids, and ALWAYS cried when the beast was appearing..........
I heard that the reason they didn't make Triton's tail like the others was because he doesn't move around as much as the others do. Besides, it kinda gives him that uniqueness since he is the only merman in the show.
There are a few other mermen in the ceremony before "Daughter's of Triton".
