I feel like Carrie would never happen on Broadway, but an Off-Broadway production that played it intentionally badly could be it's own little cult classic. Maybe? Maybe not?
I'm gonna go ahead and say that Brooklyn will never be revived. Good riddance.
On the other hand, I desperately want The Life to be revived (and revised) but suspect it will never happen.

I'm tempted to say Sweet Smell of Success, but I guess that one might have a slim possibility of being revived.
I'm going to say if we see revivals of "Jekyll & HYDE" and/or "Jane Eyre" ever, ...they will be VERY different from what was seen on Broadway.
I'd have to disagree with whoever said "DRACULA, the musical" on the first page. While I'd say most Wildhorn shows would get a revival anyway, I don't think "The Civil War" will -- it just doesn't seem to fit or something. Who knows. But back to DRACULA, while on Broadway there was all the drama off-stage and vocal problems and music / lyric problems in general, if you pick up the Austrian Cast Recording, you probably will be pleasantly surprised, and I'd gladly pay to see that with those orchestrations/etc. as opposed to a bizarre-ly watered down musically production with random set, expensive set pieces. It needs work, but it's DRACULA and I could see SOMEONE wanted to revive it eventually.
"I do think that there is a chance that Tale Of Two Cities might be revived. I remember reading on here (and I don't remember who said it, if I did I would give them credit) but I think that the theatre that they were in was a problem. I think that the Hirschfeld was too small in terms of stage size to fit the set. Granted, I think that they did the best that they could but I don't think that due to the size of the stage, the set was able to have that wow factor that they were looking for."
While I think TALE will eventually get it's time -- I doubt it's due to the theatre size / set size that you're refering too. Seemed like they wanted the Hirschfeld for a while. I thought the set seemed fine - it was the one from Sarasota anyway, it wasn't like they were going to edit it.
Think about the time it started it's run - the first three musicals (13 + [tos]) of the season all flopped too, it'd be a good case to get it revived once more.
Clearly, most of the "classic" novels/stories (Eyre, Tale, Huckfinn, Copperfield...etc) would have a troubled revival time, and since most of them weren't successful the first time around, there'd haev to be some kind of event to spark that revival (like a film version - non-musical probably).

Which is a shame, cause I'm still in love with David Turner because of that show. Winston was something special!

I'd love to see Musicals Tonight or Musicals in Mufti do it one of these days. I'll even take a regional production at this point (it's available for licensing, despite it being a one-performance flop); I'm just so curious to hear the score.
philly03, I believe that Tale didn't want the Hirschfeld at first. I believe that they were aiming for the Marquis and had been for a while. If I recall correctly there were people who were kinda shocked that they took the Hirschfeld. They wanted it but 9 to 5 got there first. Kind of a moot point now considering how long Tale ran. But, no one really realized that then.
I cant agree about the score for Carrie been bad
Sure it has some clunkers (Out For Blood, Wotta Night, It Hurts To Be Strong, Dream On) but it also has some brilliant moments where the score sours (Eve Was Weak, Evening Prayers, When there's No One, Carrie, In, Dont Waste The Moon, I Remember How Those Boys Could Dance)
The score very much works between Carrie and her mum, its the teen score where the problem lies, but the score is very much salvageable, the teen songs could do with an update and rewrite but the mother daughter scenes are wonderful.
It contains some of the best pop opera music ive heard in a musical.
I think Carrie will come back, its only a matter of time, i have a feeling the show would play Off Broadway or in London (Donmar, Meiner etc)

pirate queen! hello?
Are we talking BROADWAY revival? If so, I agree. But if we're talking just a revival in general, last I read... the show is actually going to be playing at the Imperial Theater in Tokyo this winter. No snarky comments necessary, I'm just passing on info.
hehehe i knew when the last post was by you Popular that it would be something to do with the Pirate Queen X
Songanddanceman I agree with you about the mother-daughter songs from Carrie being good. I also think "Unsuspecting Hearts" is a great number. However I think "Don't Waste The Moon" is an awful song. Bad melody with some awful lyrics: "All we ever do is park/Then for hours you grope me in the dark".
I think "In" is a good song, it just doesn't work as an opening number. I think an opening number that establishes the high school environment and the respective "roles" of Carrie as an outcast, Tommy as the typical jock, Chris as the social ringleader of the girls, and Billy as the typical bad boy would work better.
As for flops that would never be revived, I'd have to go with The Woman In White for sure.

Can't say I agree -- I think WiW will eventually get revived - as will mostly every Lloyd Webber show. If he hadn't written it, but it was the same show, perhaps not. I'd certainly see it again - the show was captivating and had a very interesting story, to say the least. Many many issues backstage (and clearly Sonia Friedman really not knowing the most information about ticket sales / the time of year it was in or whatever reason) helped push the show to close; I certainly could have seen it playing longer - it didn't seem like it was doing horridly.
I still don't think Carrie will be back - it's ... messy. There are some catchy-numbers in the mix of a bad score ("Carrie," & "In," amongst others), but still...I don't know about it. If it can keep it's legacy building ... perhaps, but otherwise I'm not going to jump for a revival of it.
