Flops that deserve one more day in the sun

One of my choices would be "Whistle Down the Wind". The music is AMAZING and the story is great. Yes, people say that the southern accents are horrible, but I live in South Carolina and I can vouch that people actually sound like that down here. But, anyway . . . one of Webber's most overlooked musicals which I believe needs to be given one more chance.

I'm not going to lie, and I may be the only one here, but I really, really liked The Capeman. Yes there were problems, but I really did like it.

A LITTLE NIGHT MUSIC is one of Sondheim's shows that turned a profit.

And SUNDAY played over a year in NYC and had numerous cast replacements - I dont know if it made any money but it wasn't really a flop in terms of performance count...

It wasn't technically a flop, but it should have played longer! OK- I get that is really not the point of the board, but I thought this show was great.

Hmmm...

1.) SIDE SHOW...I think if they made the show bigger and added more dialogue then music it would work. I also think that some of the Freaks should have songs and more character developement.

2.) PARADE

3.) DANCE OF THE VAMPIRES....I can't say this enough and it would work if only it was done its original run the Vienna Cast style.

4.) The Scarlet Pimpernel

5.) Martin Guerre

I always thought RAGTIME had a nice run...
um HOW MANY MORE TIMES could you give Scarlet Pimpernel a chance???I thought it was great but it just wasn't working.

Dance of the Vampires was amazing in my opinion but what killed it was also what made it sell initially : Michael Crawford.

Taboo.....I wasn't obsessed but I just KNOW it could work and what great music! and that cast was full of the most amazing performances

I dunno, Liir - THOU SHALT NOT was really, really horrible all the way around. And the sex is the entire point of the source material "Therese Raquin" - if anything the show didn't have enough sex, IMO.

True, MB. I doubt a revival would ever be considered (and honestly, should not be). I just said that because I enjoyed the show somewhat. I must read that book.
