Sooooooo good. I'm so glad I got to see him live.
Wow, his performance is amazing.
It's interesting how casting an African American performer in this role introduces an additional subtext to the narrative. It would be an interesting discussion.
This is a perfect role for Norm Lewis. All he has to do is sound great.
I came up from DC to see the show on Tuesday. Norm was absolutely wonderful, as was Sierra Boggess. After 26+ years, the show is in great shape.
Hi Dottie, may I ask where your seats were? I haven't seen Phantom since I was 10, but I see everything Mr. Lewis performs in, so I'm trying to figure out what seats are good, since I know nothing about that theater. Thanks for any advice!
SuttonRoss, I was in the 2nd row of the front mezzanine. I must add that the audience was very well behaved, attentive and enthusiastic in their applause throughout the performance (unlike the horrendous audience I experienced at Aladdin last night).
Was the view good? Yeah, that is my greatest concern, I've heard audiences are especially horrible at Phantom. The audience at Aladdin is why I haven't gone yet, despite loving James in Memphis and wanting to support his work. I think I'll go when the school year starts up again!
The view from the front mezzanine was excellent. From what I've read here, I was anticipating a bad audience at Phantom, that's why I was pleasantly surprised to find the exact opposite. I think the best time to see Aladdin is in early January!
Let's see crying children, annoying school group behind me, girl behind me chomping on popcorn the entire performance, people behaving as if they were in their living room. It was like the audience had collective ADD.
Aren't inconsiderate dickbags the worst? I'm so sorry you had to deal with that!
I'm going to be honest, this is almost enough to make me want to go see the show again, which is a thought I haven't had in over a decade.

Would someone be kind enough to remind me which performances Lewis does not do?
