So I was just in my schools production of Footloose and honestly I had so much fun doing it! The music is so catchy and the dancing was fun too. But would it EVER and I mean EVER come back to Broadway? Its original run in 1998 wasn't awful but wasn't the best either as it ran for about a year and half but it got pretty meh reviews and got only a few tony nominations (and best musical was not one of them) and even though I loved doing it lets be serious the plot and characters (just like the film) in the show aren't very interesting and need a lot of work to make the show good as its pretty much high school rebellion the musical....but what do you guys think? Maybe it will return? By a landslide? We never thought Promises Promises was gonna come back but hey! It did!

It was written for the stock and amateur market and never intended for Broadway. That it would ever return is a very long shot.
A show's enjoyment level PERFORMING a show has little to do with the quality of a show.
When I wouldn't expect a revival any time soon, stranger things have happened.

Anything is possible (we've certainly seen revivals that have made us question "why?", but I would certainly not put any money down in Vegas on this show being revived on Broadway, and I definitely would not be willing to invest in (if I was in such a position to do so).

I think you managed to list all the reasons why it wont.
Sure - lousy shows come to B'way all the time.

Sean, as you so eloquently stated in the Hello Dolly Extending Its Run thread:
"ITS, not IT'S. How many times do people have to be reminded of the basics of freaking grammar???"
I agree. So in the spirit of the passion we both share, let me help you out here buddy. It's WON'T, not WONT.

Dropped apostrophes are a growing trend (as opposed to incorrect ones), in cases of words like dont, wont, and cant. I thought you guys were all supposed to be ahead of the curve.
Wearing leggings as pants have been a growing trend, too. That doesn't make it right.
I wouldn't mind seeing Footloose come back in a better production. The show itself can be quite fun and a crowd-pleaser, but that original Broadway production was WOEFULLY misguided. There were so many WTF choices made in the staging (the opening with the weird parachute thing, Somebody's Eyes, Holding Out for a Hero, Almost Paradise to name a few), the show made no sense. Apparently, some improvements have already been made to the book and score (like cutting the rap number for the town council scene) and replacing I Confess with a book scene. With the right director and choreographer who understand musicals, rather than try and apologize for them, I think the show could be a delightful hit.

It's a growing trend only among the lazy and poorly educated. And someone who is clearly as concerned as you are about the basics of grammar would never take part in such a "trend". Just own it dude and don't try to BS your way out of it. Using lame pseudo justifications is not a good look.
