Footloose revival?

Posted: 9/4/08 at 11:15amMy college this year is doing Footloose as their musical for the spring. One of my professors who is either directing or helping out in the show in some way, says that this show is going to be revived on Broadway next year? Is she correct or not. Just wondering.

Posted: 9/4/08 at 11:22amThe original production was a financial flop, and even though it gets performed a lot regionally and in high schools it will never come back to Broadway. There is however a non-equity tour going out that is being produced by the Prather Family of Theatres.

Posted: 9/4/08 at 11:24amThere is NO WAY NO HOW a revival of Footloose will open on Broadway next year.

Posted: 9/4/08 at 11:25amI saw its premiere at the Kennedy Center. I'm a bit embarassed to say how easily I am impressed...however- even I didn't think it was very good. It was a big disappointment.

Posted: 9/4/08 at 11:36amI don't think Footloose did well enough the first time it was on Broadway to revive it. But I'm not gonna lie, I wouldn't be 100% surprised if they did end up bringing it back since it's the style of show that's so popular right now.

Posted: 9/4/08 at 11:37amThe closest thing to a revival is that they're adapting the musical to a movie.

Posted: 9/4/08 at 6:50pmIt's not an awful show. I just played Reverend Moore and the audience loved it. But still, no Broadway producer will take a chance on that show again, at least not for like, twenty years...

I wasn't so sure if this show did well on Broadway enough to warrant a revival. Also, according to IBDB it closed not that long ago. So, for there to be a revival in a short period of time doesn't seem logical to me.
