What is it about her goes up to an Ab but you don't have to sustain it really. but it ends on a G. What makes a person a baritone or someone a tenor? Cause I can sing What is it about her, empty chairs, and "one song glory."

I believe the technical breakdown is as follows
Baritone- high F#
Lyric Baritone- high Ab
Tenor-A
Lead Tenor- Bb and above...One of my voice professors explained it to me one day...not sure if that was 100% correct it's been a while. I'd say This is the Moment is a Tenor's song. It hits high Abs if you do the optional "Damn all the odds"
"Anthem" is hard because it does some low stuff the part that most people wait for is the high Gs. And there's many; including one that's an octave and a half jump from a D in the middle of the Bass clef to the G. Good list overall though.

Sorry to threadjack but ...
Charles Bloom, an accomplished composer/lyricist, has a parody song about Baritone's on his site that you may appreciate.
He used to be a neighbor of mine. Great guy and very talented. You should check out his other stuff as well.

Broadwaybelter I did the same (try singing 'This is the Moment' and I was so embarrassed, it was because Fs and Gs feature throughout the song. It is definitely not written for a baritone.

Some of those are questionable tenor songs, but a great list nevertheless.
Some others:
If I Sing - Closer Than Ever
Purpose - Ave Q
I'm Not That Smart - Spelling Bee
Halloween - Rent
Stars - Les Mis
All I Care About - Chicago

If I lay here
If I just lay here
Would you lie with me and just forget the world?

i just looked over "this is the moment" and sung through it with no problem. I guess I've moved up to Bari-tenor. YAY!
I have NEVER met Cheyenne Jackson. I have never hung out with him in his dressing room, he did not tweet me, he never bought me a beverage, and he mostly certainly didn't tickle me. . .that is all.

Regarding This is the Moment and general labels...
Listen to Anthony Warlow sing it. That man is def a high baritone but has such depth to his voice that he is no tenor!
I think the best attitude to terminology is to treate them as labels. Nothing more than guidlines. Everyone's voice is unique. Its also more about vocal quality than range. My high B flats are totally different from a "tenor" B flat. Does it mean I shouldnt sing them? No just that if I was working I would avoid roles that asked for more than a few in the whole score.

Question: I've ALWAYS thought I was a baritone, and I've been told that by my choir teacher, yet I can easily hit/belt (and go even higher than) the highest notes of, say, "Suddenly Seymour", Lefou at the end of "Gaston (Reprise)", the end of "Beethoven Day", "Run, Freedom, Run", and "What Do I Need With Love." So what am I?
Lol, it's difficult to tell someone what they are online, but I don't know -- are those notes still considered baritone?

KISS HER NOW (DEAR WORLD)
Any man of any vocal register who'd come into my audition singing IF THAT WAS LOVE would be thrown out for the sissy-mary that he is.

Does anyone have the sheet music for Johanna? I love it. I want to sing it this fall in my voice class.

My voice coach transposes a lot of pieces for me to sing. I am a baritone, and I have really been wanting to sing something from Parade. Isn't over yet....I am not sure, cause Brent Carver goes pretty high, but maybe I will give it a shot. Also, the judge's Johanna is def. something I've wanted to work on. Johanna (Antony's) is questionable. It is a tenor range in sorts, but Ben Magnunson, in New ST, has lowered it for his baritone.
...What happened next, was stranger still, a woman breathless and afraid, appeared out of the night, completely dressed in white. She had a secret she would tell, of one who had mistreated her. Her face and frightened gaze, my mind cannot erase...But then she ran from view. She looked so much like you...

Oh, I didn't know that. After reading the thread, it didnt seem like the new Sweeney revival went that high, but i guess that makes sense now.
