Is it wrong to think that Roundabout's programming strategy involves throwing darts at a spinning wheel?

Listen, Maggie VERY talented and this being a concert I'm guessing they're not going to do major choreography, but...is she the epitome of sex? Well, I guess neither was Gwen Verdon, really.

Whoopi as the devil is inspired casting!

Maggie is great but definitely not who I would have first thought of for Lola. FWIW I thought from the headline that Jake was playing Joe Hardy like he almost did in that move remake!

Great to see no one bothered to even read what’s going on. This isn’t a concert it’s a reading.  Don’t expect to see any of the cast getting up to do a musical number.  I’m sure they’ll have a chorus sitting on the side to sing the ensemble sections whenever a musical number requires it.

Brody, I read it. That's why I said it won't require much dancing, even if it's a "staged reading" I doubt they'll be major dancing other than arm raising and box steps.

Given that EVERYTHING they had pending for Broadway this season apparently fell out from under them, this is a good guess.

in addition to SHE LOVES ME, Roundabout also did the benefit concert of A LITTLE NIGHT MUSIC with Natasha Richardson with hopes of bringing Trevor Nunn's production over starring her and Vanessa Redgrave, who was eager to work with her daughter. (What a tremendous tragedy Natasha isn't with us to give us her Desiree and so many other characters.) It's likely they're testing this casting, as well.

Whoopi is brilliant casting, for one.

Was t Kathleen Marshall attaches to a commercial production of this with Bryan Cranston as Applegate?

I’m sure there will be some choreography with Marshall involved.

Would be be nice if this in for a full production this Spring.  We need more Golden Age Revivals these days to escape into.

I think Maggie is an interesting choice, but not the choice I want for a full length revival, in all honesty.

I think James Earl Jones has dropped out of this. His name is nowhere on Roundabout's website.

Seems like it.  I hope Mr. Jones is okay.

If it's anything like their Kiss Me Kate reading last year, there will probably be choreography. Even though they used scripts for the scenes, there were still costumes, basic blocking, and choreography for all of the dance songs (the Lois Lane numbers, Too Darn Hot, etc.)... Obviously nothing too complicated, but pretty fleshed-out nonetheless.
