"Tony Award nominee Hunter Foster will star as window dresser Molina in Signature Theatre's new production of Kander, Ebb and McNally's musical, Kiss of the Spider Woman, in Arlington, VA, March 11-April 20.
The actor known for Broadway's recent Little Shop of Horrors (for which he was Tony nommed), Urinetown and The Producers will play an imprisoned gay man who cherishes the work of a glamorous film actress (played by the previously announced Nastascia Diaz).
Casting has not yet been announced for the role of Valentin, Molina's revolutionary cellmate in the Latin American prison. Eric Schaeffer, artistic director of Signature Theatre, will direct the revival..."

I wish I could have seen him in The Full Monty, and now this. He's one of my favorite performers.
wow ! great news...
The mainstage tribute will also feature productions of The Visit starring George Hearn and Chita Rivera, and The Happy Time.
^^^ I wanna see THE VISIT !

Now I know what I'll ask my parents for my birthday...
I would kill to see The Visit as well!
Sounds wonderful! Way to go Hunter!
I'm so excited about this, considering A) it's Hunter Foster and I've wanted to see him for a long time and B) I live in Arlington! One Hunter Foster, hand delivered to your door (or close to it!)
This should be a great part for him.
I would love to see Michael Rupert do the Goulet part in THE HAPPY TIME.
Wow, interesting casting. Not who I would have thought of off the bat. But Hunter is great so I'm sure it will be well acted regardless.
I'd love to be able to get down there to see this.
delightful bit of casting!
now let's hope two people just as exciting are cast as Valentin and Aurora.
Great news for Hunter!
I wish I could be there to see it.
I look forward to reviews from those of you who get to see it!

Natascia Diaz was previously announced as Aurora/Spider Woman, so Valentin is the only one left to announce.
Frankly, I think Foster is talented but IMO he lacks the campiness and sexiness the role calls for, it's nothing to do with his talents just his stage persona. Perhaps he'll pull it off though.

His talents aside, I think he's a bit miscast. I hope I'm wrong, especially since this the first major production of SPIDER WOMAN since the OBC. And I love the show.
^ SPIDER WOMAN was just playing off-Broadway.

I feel this is major miscasting. He's always been a little too tongue in cheek for my taste. He's fine in roles where he gets to do takes to the audience. Molina requires some serious acting chops that I'm not sure he has because he has costed by on "charm" for so long. It's just my opinion and I know that it will probably make some people furious, but I don't get his appeal at all. I never have.
His sister on the other hand, I think is amazing.

I equate this casting with the casting of Jason Alexander in "L!V!C!" movie. I wonder if Malcolm Gets was approached to do this? He's a much better fit for the role.
BWW has infiltrated my life to its very core. When I saw this thread title, I initially thought it was about "Wanna Be A Foster"...and I actually have tickets for this show already! Where's my straight jacket?

Malcolm Gets would be fabulous...Hunter is very talented but I feel he lacks the vulnerability for this role.

I think Hunter is completely wrong for this part.
I'm sorry, I'm totally out of the loop. Has Frankenstein closed already?
Malcolm Gets would be my choice.

Yep, back in Mid-December. They had a hilarious skit about the closing at Gypsy of the Year.
