It is Fox News! Everything is editorialsed. The most disgusting propaganda machine in existence since Soviet Russia or Joe McCarthy. They should screen the documentary "Out Foxed" in all US public schools.

I never thought I would agree with anything Fox says, but this time they are right. "Lestat" is truly awful. Just wait until the NY critics get their two cents in print!
Oh, Jim, we can always count on you and your four-month-old opinions on a show that doesn't really exist anymore.

Thank you Uncageg for emailing the editor. We all should.
It's one thing for a bunch of us gay-lovin' theatre folk to be angry in a BWW.com thread, but the real action would be to express yourself to one of the editorial staff.
Even if you don't like "Lestat," I'm sure we can all get a little peeved at the no-no premature review and the utter lack of sensibility this reporter has... The obviousness of tying in homophobia and "Brokeback" to lure in the FOX right-leaning readers.
Take a proactive, instead of reactive, approach and email the editor. CONTACT foxlife@foxnews.com

Too bad Lizzie but it sounds that my four month old opinion is just as valid as it was back then. It stunk then and it stinks now. If you don't like what I have to say, don't read it. :) By the way, you certainly have posted a million things about "Lestat" yourself and I always read what you have to say.....

Gosh, Jim, by your one or two or 574 posts regarding how bad you think Lestat is...one would begin to think that perhaps you are not fond of the show?
Tell me, does the phrase "beating a dead horse" hold any meaning to you??
I really didn't want to say this, but Jim:
Just to let you know there are SEVERAL cast members of "Lestat" who read these boards. And have told me, personally, how sad they are -- not for what you have to say -- but the fact that you take every bit of your negative energy to say it.
To some of them, it seems you spend more of your time crouching in the shadows waiting to pounce on anything said about "Lestat" then living a positive life.
It takes ALOT of energy to hate something. Wouldn't your time be better spent just moving on and finding something you love?
Can I ask one thing, for the sake of the cast? What do you get out of it other than high blood pressure? Seriously, Jim, focus your emotions somewhere else, because it's really really starting to get old. To everyone. Including the cast, who are simply trying to make a living.

Maybe I wasn't clear "broadway4me" but yes, I am not fond of "Lestat". I thought you would have figured that out.
And Eugene, I don't really care if the cast reads these messages or not. They didn't care about me when they took my money and three hours out of my life the night I saw their show. We don't all have personal relationships with them like you do and we don't all bring them gifts. The rest of us just pay our money which pays their salary. By the way, I have not said anything bad about the cast, just the show.
Too bad Lizzie but it sounds that my four month old opinion is just as valid as it was back then. It stunk then and it stinks now.
Operative phrase there being "sounds like." You talk about Lestat in present tense and your only reference is the show in SF. Look, I didn't think it was a great show in SF, either, but at least I know where to draw the line -- I can't talk about the show in its present state and neither can you. Stop making us look bad!
If you don't like what I have to say, don't read it. :)
Oh, if only the Ignore feature were back up and running. It's not that easy.

"And it sails right over the head and outta the stadium!"
Just an FYI -- Fox News as an organization is not homophobic. I know of a few pretty high-level producers from Fox who make it no secret that they are gay. Fox is a pretty big supporter of the National Lesbian and Gay Journalists Association and always sends recruiters to the organization's conventions as well as some of its higher profile personalities as speakers. No, not Sean Hannity.
Point being -- if you send an email, there's a chance that it might reach a sympathetic ear.

FOX NEWS "We report.... and decide!"
I don't think anyone here would take a Fox News theater review seriously.
Yeah, I don't really care that they didn't like it. It's just crappily written.
I agree. Is it still up?
It sure is! Maybe someone should save it...
If it is taken down, it's not going to be because of a jump the gun review. The article does mention that it was seen in previews, but I don't think the target audience is going to understand what that means.
For all the Lestat cast and crew members that are lurking around - keep having fun and enjoy what you are doing. I only saw the production in SF, and I had my problems with the story too, but I still say, "You are the most gifted cast and crew I've had the pleasure of seeing in a long time."
What's all the fuss about? I read the review (and laughed at it's bitchiness) but I didn't find it particularly homophobic. The fact that the characters are bisexual has little to do with what this critic sees as an over the top, campy extravaganza. In fact he had more problems with the incest and the burning scene than with the homo erotica. The issue of printing it one week before "opening" really isn't that big of a deal to me. Come on, the show has had terrible word of mouth since day one, a long while to fix what seemed wrong in San Francisco (edited) and doesn't seem to be getting any better. I don't think that this one review is going to damage ticket sales all that much between now and next week. I mean people have been ripping this show for a long time. I am not condoning his decision to print it early, but let's be real here, it's not really a crime.
(Edited for geographical clarification. Thanks.)
The show debut in San Francisco. With word of mouth being so bad, as you put it, I would think people (and I don't mean just you) would get this right by now.
I've been looking at the gross sales by the week for this show, and though it isn't great - it isn't bad either. Are people now expecting every show to be a hit? Because that is never going to happen.
Wow. I may not like the show, in fact I found it quite a waste of money, but that "review" is so poorly written and anti-gay it's disgusting. I'm done commenting on Lestat. I've made a few snide comments of my own. My final thing I will say, is even though I saw an early (Noseworthy) performance, the cast did their best with the material, but it wasn't ready to be put onstage, and it's Elton's most sloppy work, IMHO. But I'm done. If you enjoy it, fine, if you don't fine. But let FOX know they crossed a line with that.
In fact, I just edited a snide comment I made in another message on a local Board - in a thread that had nothing to do with Lestat.
I'm not having a change of heart about the show, but I'm done bashing it.
The Wedding Singer was in Seattle - Lestat was in San Fran :)
They didn't care about me when they took my money and three hours out of my life the night I saw their show.
Jim, that's not true AT ALL. This cast truely does care about their audience and what their audience has to think. They put so much energy into this show to try and entertain you.. how can you even say they didn't care? They really do want people to like this show, and not just because they need a paycheck. Fine, you didn't like it, but you have no right to say what you said. Unless you have some unfortunate stagedoor story to tell about how they completely ignored you or something?
Wooooo... and I'm off the defensive for now.
Horrible review.
That review was about as well written as an article I wrote in third grade for our class newspaper.
After reading it, that yes, it was a snarkly article to be sure, and obviously just this guy's column to with as he pleases, not a "review," per se.
And maybe the article is a bit heavy on the gay notes, but let's face it, this guy is probably the type of guy who will get dragged to see the show by his wife or child, so I think he has every right to note that there is a lot of homoeroticism.
But to be honest, I've seen a lot snarkier and more critical on message boards, including this one. Sure, it's an uneducated view, but no different than some of what I've seen before. And no less valid. It's an opinion. Everyone's gotta right to express themselves, no matter how right or wrong it may be.
