I second Aaron Lohr. I think he'd be brilliant.

i don't think Jack Black could do it (and I don;t think he would do it). I think if Gavin Creel cut his hair, I think he could pull it off.

I really have a hard time seeing Hunter Foster in it. I think that Norbert should do it untill time runs out. Or just promote the stand-by, people say he is great!

Norbert's stand-bye is great, but I would htink they would try to get a bigger name in. I can see Hunter in the role, but I would love to see the guy originate another role first.

Hunter Foster? You have to be loud, crude, obnoxious and funny. He plays characters with more of a quiet, prude, kind and funny side, but maybe he could do it. I totally agree with some of you, Jack Black would be great.

Jake Gyllenhaal. *siiiigh* Just ugly him up? Maybe? Downgrade the age of the rest of the cast? Hmm? So I could meet him and have his babies?
No, really, Jack Black would be great.

oh wow- All these people have been saying Jack Black and I was about to post a message remding them he can't sing, but then I remember School of Rock and his own band. He would be great at that role!

I don't see Jack Black in the role... I really don't think he'd be able to work on Broadway very well.
Am I cut out to spend my time this way?

I think Jack Black would be fabulous, its a balls to the wall role and thats what he specializes in, although he's also proven in *ahem*King Kong he can restrain his style as needed, too.
Whether he would do it is a whole other story though...perhaps he wants to get back to his music roots!
Edited: As I can't tell the difference between monster movies

Hunter would be amusing. I'd like to see his interpretation of the role.
How about Dan Fogler? Or someone mentioned Wayne Brady a few months ago, he'd be hysterical.

Whoever it is needs to be a BIG name.
They have already asked a few who have turned it down.

... the thought of seeing Jack Black's butt cheek is a very scary thought !!

Well, I am not so sure it has to be a BIG name, given that Norbert was not a BIG name before (and still isnt outside the theater world alas). Lawrence, however, needs to be a BIG name. Back to topic, Jack Black seems to be the number one consensus among the fans as the next Freddy but I doubt it will happen. As Drama said, its hard to see him in the Broadway environment. Jason Gillman does an excellent job understudying but yes, they will want someone with a bit more credentials. Hunter Foster would be a solid candidate.
Edit: Wasn't Norbert's 'cheeky' showing something he added to the scene? If so, Black shouldn't have to do it (please no...)

David Josefsberg would take that role and run with it. It'd be amazing.

If they want a "name" they should try to get someone like Dana Carvey or another SNL person.

dramadork, i with you 100%. I don;t think he can do it

I don't know that Dan Fogler could handle the role vocally.

Raul Esparza? Seriously? He could do it, but it's not something I'd immediately drop him into. That doesn't seem like his thing, at all.
