If anyone is doubting Jack Black's ability to sing, remember that he started in his band Tenacious D before he ever began acting. Download their stuff if you haven't. Not only is it hilarious, but he proves he has pipes AND the ability to convey a story while he sings.

Alan Tudyk would be a good choice, and a realistic one at that. Ain't no way Raul would even consider it.

I cant imagine Freddy being tall, which is one of the reasons I am having trouble seing these people doing it. But I do think that christian borle would be a great idea~!

i wish lithgow would come back also. lol . i would say jack black because he almost looks sort of what freddy's supposed to look like, but he won't really do it, he's better on t.v. i feel sad even thinking about the fact that Norbert's leaving

Dana Carvey is too old...and i'm not sure he'd even do it.
Doug Storm would be amazing.

What about someone like Patrick Wilson? I know a lot of us identify him now with his most recent stuff (Phantom movie, Barefoot in the Park), but he did play a similar character in Yazbeck's other show, The Full Monty. Obviously the character in TFM wasn't quite as out there as Freddie...but he at least has a knack with Yazbeck's musical style. I don't know how good his comic chops are with respect to the Ruprecht scene...but he could surprise me. What about Christian Cambpell from Reefer Madness fame?

I can really see Will Farrel in the role. He'd make tickets sell. He sings sometimes in movies and has got a nice voice. I think he could pull it off, forl ike a 6 month run. The show will close without a big name.

While Hunter Foster is my favorite actor and I'd love to see him in anything, this isn't for him. I think he could do it amazingly, but he needs to originate a new role...
David Josefsberg is actually a very inspired idea. Props to whoever thought of that.

Raul Esparza? Seriously? He could do it, but it's not something I'd immediately drop him into. That doesn't seem like his thing, at all.
I think Raul would be great as Freddy. And if DRS doesn't seem like "his show", then all the more reason he should do it. Chitty Chitty Bang Bang certainly didn't seem like "his show" which was the exact reason why he did it.

There's a lot I am not certain of...

I agree with the people who said Aaron Lohr or David Josefsberg. I think I can picture David in the part better than Aaron but I think they would both be wonderful.

I've been saying Hunter Foster since DRS first opened. When I finally saw it, I immediately figured Dan Fogler. He sure could act the part but his singing isn't quite strong enough.
What about Andy Karl?

How about Andy Karl AND David Josefsberg. They could switch off. And I would never leave that theatre ... like ever.Either one of them would be amazing. Both are amazingly hilarious, and phenomenal performers.

The show will close without a big name.
I don't think that is true. Norbert wasn't that big when he got into DRS, but he was incredible. I say, if someone gets in and has the talent, but not the name, the show will survive.

I think Mario Cantone could work. Now, for the singing range, he's got it down. Do you realize how high Freddy sometimes has to sing! Jeez, I'm a Baritenor and the notes at the end of "Dirty Rotten Number" are excrutiatingly high.
