Fri Oct 9th - best show in town?

Hi all - I have one evening free in New York on Fri Oct 9th - what would you say is hands down the best show in town to see that night?

I've seen most of the classics and a few newer ones, but with only one night I'd love to see whatever NYers say is the hot ticket...

thanks in advance!

Well, the 'hot ticket' will be either Hamlet (Jude Law) and/or A Steady Rain (Hugh Jackman/Daniel Craig). However, neither show has begun previews yet, so their quality would just be speculation. Otherwise, I think the consensus best shows are probably the reigning Best Musical, Next To Normal, and the Best Musical revival, Hair. Also, can't go wrong with In The Heights or South Pacific.

Ummmm, Next to Normal is not the reigning Best Musical. That's Billy Elliot.

Thanks so much guys - I've extended my trip to see Hair and A Steady Rain, and have already seen In the Heights, so I hear Next to Normal is worth seeing? Thanks again.

Yes. See it. It's amazing, brutal and heartbreaking.
If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it? These are DISCUSSION boards, not mutual admiration boards. Discussion only occurs when we are willing to hear what others are thinking, regardless of whether it is alignment to our own thoughts.

I'll be in NYC 3 weeks before you and I'm going to see HAIR.

You can never go wrong with Chicago and In The Heights, either re: Fri Oct 9th - best show in town?
